This is my first “compact” speaker, so I do not speak from a techy place, but I love this speaker. Sounds is great, you can really hear the base, and the music radiates a good distance. Haven’t had a chance to test the waterproof abilities, but I can only assume it is fine. Great little purchase, enjoying on my deck right now!

This is a great little speaker for listening to music, news, etc. from your phone. The sound quality is outstanding for such a small speaker when listening to music with clear highs and deep bass. It is loud enough to work around the kitchen or a small house and keep listening without carrying your phone. It has been moisture resistant when we took it out fishing. We really like it.

I did not buy this expecting the bass to bother the neighbors, or drive a party. I bought this sound unheard because of the size, waterproofness, and USB-C charging. I trusted in Sony to make a decent sounding personal speaker and its exactly that. Bought one salmon and one blue, when you pair these the sound is even better. In my office, kitchen, or outside by the grill these are perfect…or maybe I’m just too old to listen to my music really loud, but these work for me.

I purchased this for my momma (who is 91 years old, has a smart phone and recently a music app I added for her). I think this Sony XB13 is great for personal use but not if you really need a lot of sound as what appears to be dipicted in the negative reviews on this item. I purchased a Sony XB10 in 2018 that I use almost every day and it’s still working great. This XB13 has a few upgrades that I like, the sound of the extra bass and the buttons are extended a bit which are easier to use. This version is made of harder plastic. I think I like mine better as it is made out of softer rubber so just a preference thing.

Nice punchy bass for such a compact unit. This is coming from the owner of substantially more powerful speakers, I’m actually impressed. Good old engineering delivers the difference—unlike most other micro units, Sony managed to cram in a passive radiator which functions like a subwoofer to actually produce bass. Puts it a league above competition lacking this piece of hardware.

First of all I own the XB43. The XB43 is wonderful. Why would I buy this when I have the XB43 you ask? Well, The XB43 is huge and it does get pretty annoying to lug around. The XB13 is so tiny it fits in my pocket, on my belt, slung over a hook on my toolbox / lunchbox. It’s just so easy to carry around I don’t even notice it. Shoot, I’ve even attached it to the back of my SnapBack hat since our workplace banned headphones. People are complaining about loudness. At max volume I have a hard time talking with coworkers, I have to turn it down. I’ll use my DB meter if anyone’s interested in that. But with a small speaker like this I’m more worried about sound quality not loudness. It sounds fantastic. No distortion at maximum loudness either. The bass is surprisingly boomy. I’ve never had a speaker this size even attempt bass. I smile when I look at how small this speaker is and just how big the sound is. Very impressive. The mids and highs are crispy (not tinny) The battery life lasts for my 10 hour workday with 40% of battery to spare with a 70% volume average. If I dropped this and ran it over with a forklift, I’d same day deliver another one on the spot. Like I said it’s an impressive for it’s size speaker. Well worth the money. I haven’t heard a mini speaker like it, period. If you want portability with little compromise to sound quality this bad boy is worth your hard earned money.

My daughter recommended this little speaker for me. She works with her dad in construction and this her speaker like this one has withstood a little beating and the sound is still great. The size, shape, and strap make this extremely portable. On top of that, the battery life is amazing.

I am very satisfied with the quality of the product. Took a few minutes to get it to sync to my computer and then, WOW! We tried an internet call to test the speaker and was very satisfied. Worked great for a video conference with my 87 year old Dad and his doctor. I would recommend this to anyone. Thanks Sony!

I am not an audiophile and know nothing about music but I do not care for the flat, tinny sound when listening to music on my cell phone. I purchased two of these speakers as I did not want to spend hundreds of $$ but I wanted to listen and really hear the music I like. These speakers bring out all the layers of sounds, different instruments, and voices that are not audible on my phone. The only negative remarks are that the charging cords are so short it makes it difficult to recharge the speaker’s batteries, and the pictoral instructions made no sense to me when I was trying to pair the speakers and connect to Bluetooth. Fortunately, you can go on line and find detailed written instructions. I really like these speakers for the price.
