I’ve only used this product once and I’m already prepared to give it a 5 star rating. I’ve been using a cheap ~$10 oral-B electric toothbrush from Walmart for a few years now and decided to upgrade. This sonicare toothbrush is an insane difference. I turned off the easy start so that I could get the full effect and I’m thoutoughly impressed. It will vibrate your entire face it is so strong. The 2 minute timer is too short for me but I just run through the cycle twice, not worth taking a star off as this is personal preference and does not cause any trouble to use for more than one cycle. For $40 and a 2.5 year warranty I’m positive I will be happy in the long run. If it dies in 2.6 years (just after the warranty) I will feel like it was worth the money. If it stays alive that’s even better. Great product. Go with this one since it has the lithium battery and the same power as the diamond toothbrush without unnecessary features.

So this is your “bare bones” version of the Sonicare toothbrushes. It has one speed and one button. Plain and simple, but still the same power of the more expensive ones. If you do not have a need for the multiple-speeds the more expensive units have, as well as the extra functions such as gum massage, etc., this unit is the way to go. Having owned both (top of the line vs bare bones) I would say this one is more practical for travel or other applications that call for simplicity. Also, the black color is amazing! The higher end units are very nice, but at times one does not really use all the extra functions. This is one of my favorite Sonicare toothbrushes by far.

As a former product specialist, I can tell you that this one is spot on. I took my time purchasing a Sonicare, because I wanted to make sure I got a great one. While the performance of Sonicare is great, across the board, the ProtectiveClean and Essence line have the superior durability and best price points. If you want bells and whistles, this is not the Sonicare for you, although the 5100 and 6100 come with a few. If you want simplicity, coupled with the amazing oral care you get from a Sonicare, this is the one for you. I purchased the ProtectiveClean 4100 in black. It came with a charger and 1 plaque control brush head. Also came with a coupon for when I purchase new heads. This toothbrush will work with any of the “click-on” brush heads.Tips for new buyers:1. The brush head is the most important aspect of this. It will determine what you will achieve while brushing. Talk to your dentist and have them tell you what area you need to focus on, then purchase the brush head that correlates. If you need plaque control, get that brush head, if you need gum care, get that brush head, etc.2. KEEP YOUR RECEIPT! This is a warranty item, so if something happens, you will need your receipt.3. Register so you get an extended warranty.

Bought this as a gift for a very particular friend. It lives up to his high quality and cost conscious standards. Even months later, we are both still mentioning how impressed we are with this product (I had bought one for myself before getting his). I’ll never go back to a standard toothbrush! The battery life is impressive. I only charge mine every 4 to 6 weeks.

This has to be the perfect model for the average person. Much better than the entry-level Essence model. Especially, when it is on sale. This one is far more compact and user-friendly for travel than the Essence, has smaller headers (the normal size that is compatible with so many other models), and doesn’t seem to have the same issues with mold and residue build-up that the Essence is plagued with (the Essence, you have to take it apart and clean it almost every other day).Cleaning this model appears to be much more friendly. It might be due to the design of the head and the gap that allows excess water to drain easily without building up inside the head area. Also, the base doesn’t cup the button of the brush like the Essence does, which is one less area for water to collect). It vibrates when you place it on the charging base, letting you know the charging has commenced (and that it is working). The footprint of the base is almost the same as the handle, so it is prone to be knocked over if you aren’t careful. However, having a small base like that keeps things neat looking and it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb. It cuts off for a quick second every 30 seconds and then goes right back into working. Its way of telling you to move onto the next section of your teeth. A bit unneeded for most except for children, but then they have much better brushes out there for kids when it comes to teaching them this. It’s more for reminding everyone else to spend a little more time brushing. You can’t turn this off, so it may bother some who have roughened levels of pride. Else you eventually get used to it and it doesn’t really bother you. I’m sure if you buy into the more expensive Bluetooth versions, you would likely have an option to control that.Overall (thus far), this seems to be a wonderful brush. From this point, it all depends on longevity. The Essence is a nasty model when it comes to build-up you are constantly cleaning off. However, it still works to this very day. So if this brush can express the same longevity (despite what some other reviewers are saying), it will maintain this great score and live on to be the perfect entry-level–and possibly the only model–you’ll ever need.**If you have found our review helpful, please vote it as helpful below so we know. Oh wow. I have used OralB for 5 years. Finally died and my dentist daughter bought this, and so did I.Yes, it takes some getting used to.It will splatter toothpaste out of you mouth unless you:>Keep your mouth closed.>Spit out the liquid that accumulates.>Use it in the shower. It makes your teeth rattle and tickles your tongue but it cleans. It has removed plaque build up from the first use.I routinely brush for 4-6 minutes and this is great.Just allow yourself time to adjust to the difference this high performance machine brings to your oral hygiene.Oh, and it holds enough charge that at 4 minutes/night I get almost 2 weeks between charges.

While I ordered the “handle only” my package came with a charger and brush head.I ordered this one because it was significantly cheaper than the Costco or other specials I have purchased over the years. I have only had this toothbrush for a couple of days but it definitely has the same or better power than the prior sonic care versions I have used over the last couple of decades. It charges and fits my existing sonic care setups including the travel cases. Dimensionally it’s exactly the same.I wear these things out every year or likely from frequent use and pushing too hard as they will eventually stop vibrating even under the lightest of touches. I have had only 1 cavity in over 20 years while being a habitual Mt. Dew drinker, having poor flossing habits, and generally only brushing twice a day. My dentist is top notch and over the last 10 years has said my teeth look perfectly cared for.If this sonic care version hold up for even a year it is by far the best value out there.

I spent way too much time researching which toothbrush to buy. This one had the features I wanted at a good price.Tech:The ramp up period was perfect. I hadn’t used an electric in a while, so having it start at a lower rate and build up to full strength was a great way to get started. I like that it vibrates every 30 seconds to tell you to move to a different quadrant and tells you if you are pushing too hard. The tech to tell you to change brush heads is cool too, but you have to buy their specific brush heads for that to work. After I ran out of my first set I bought a well reviewed alternative without the sensor chip. They still work well, but you don’t get the little light telling you it’s time to change it. Honestly the light telling me to change the brush head felt like it came later than I would have liked anyway.Battery:Battery life is excellent. I honestly couldn’t tell you how long it is between charges because they are so far apart. I thought I would have to charge it every week, but it lasts way longer than that. When I travel I don’t even bring the charger. I just make sure I have a full charge before I leave. I do wish it came with a travel case though.Brushing:Most importantly of all, it leaves my teeth feeling great. If you follow the instructions and brush at an angle along the gum line it removes way more debris than a manual brush. Cuts down on flossing time as a result. I have sensitive teeth, but the vibration doesn’t bother me. Also cleans your tongue very well. Feels like a dentist clean! Love this toothbrush.

I bought this to replace my old Sonicare that stopped charging after about 2 years. The old one that died was one of the expensive models with all the different brushing modes and a travel case that doubles as a charger. It was nice but I only used one brushing mode. When that one died I checked Amazon to see what the current models were. I found this one, the cheap one, and decided that the more expensive ones were a waste for my needs.First thing I did was turn off the EasyStart mode. I then found that the vibration actually seems a little stronger than my older one.Bottom line, all I need is one mode, which happens to be the most effective mode, and this one works perfectly. I am not noticing any functional difference between this one and the more expensive one. The brush heads are the same. No, it doesn’t come with a fancy travel case/charger but the regular charger is easy enough to stick in any travel bag.I recommend this one over the more expensive models. Its one brushing mode is the most effective one so there’s no reason to pay 2 or 3 times as much for additional brushing modes unless you really need them.

I wanted to improve on my dental health so I invested in this magnificent product. It’s been years since I owned one. The last one I had, my dad bought it for me and it was battery operated. This one is rechargable. I like how it beeps every 30 seconds so that you can lightly hold over each quadrants of your teeth. No need to push down; the brush does all the work for you. The bristles are soft and it doesn’t make my gums bleed. I have to admit that I’m slightly ticklish so its just a matter of getting used to the vibrations of the toothbrush, but it leaves my teeth feeling super clean.
