10 reviews for Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush with SenseIQ, Champagne

  1. Sam

I don’t have any prior experience with electric toothbrushes, so I don’t know if this one is particularly special among electric toothbrushes, but as a newcomer to this side of the toothbrushing world I can say that this brush makes a world of difference.Even after the first use you’ll probably notice that your teeth feel like they were just deep-cleaned by a dentist. Teeth feel extremely smooth after brushing with the Sonicare 9900. After one use I was already glad that I bought it. The instructions are a breeze and I haven’t even bothered to link it up to the app. It does the job just fine without that for now and saves the hassle of messing with a phone just to clean teeth. The only thing that remains to be seen is longevity. I was hesitate to review this too early – having only owned it for a few days – but it felt so good to use that I could not wait to leave a review. I will end on a note of light skepticism toward the lifespan. Some other reviews have mentioned mechanical/electric issues after short periods of usage. I’ll keep a lookout for premature failure and will update my review if it ends up disappointing. So far… 5/5 on all fronts, including style and the fact that takes up very little space including the sleek charging station. The travel case that hooks up to a USB charger is a bonus on top of everything.

There is a Reason, Why Philips Sonicare is #1 Best Seller Tooth Brushes. If you love making love to your teeth, and you have the money for it, this is a must buy tooth brush. Only if you can afford it. It’s like the apple of tooth brushes, if Apple ever made one. This tooth brush is full of technologies, that not even found in my $1,400 Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max.I know so many features for just a tooth brush, but when you’re one of the best companies to produce tooth brushes and you’re competing with your self, you’re setting the bar between you and the competition by many light years ahead. And soon the difference between phillips and other tooth brush manufacturers, is going to be like a gap between current humans and apes. There is no comparision to begin with. This tooth brush tracks, your brushing habits, and how clean and well you press or move or clean your teeth, it’s just insane, it got a very elegan, Gucci like quality travel case for protecting this $399 investment and I love it. The vibrations are INSANE! and when I say insane, I own many ultra sonic tooth brushes but this one is on another level. It comes with a wireless charging base. I just love everything about this tooth brush, the only downside is that brush head replacements can be very expensive, but other than that, I highly recommend it.

The Philips Sonicare 9900 Prestige Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush seems to me to be essentially the Cadillac of the electric toothbrushes. It is light, the battery seems to last forever, the brushing head is nicely sized and pointed at the tip to give you good cleaning control, it makes an audible motor stop/start to queue you to switch to another area of your mouth, and the charging pedestal and case is probably the best I’ve ever seen.More specifically, the Phillips Sonicare 9900 weighs about 40% less than my current rechargeable toothbrush (from a competing company) so I don’t get near the wrist fatigue that I used when I first started using that brush.Charging is a snap and there is no need to plug the toothbrush in – you merely set it on the pedestal and it charges touchless through the base. In addition, you get a nice faux leather case that holds the brush and handle and you can simply charge the brush through the case via a USB cable (cables, charging pedestal, and wall outlet are all included). So you get a carrying case and charger all in one and the case magnetically closes so your brush doesn’t fall out.In use, the tooth brush cleans very nicely and I didn’t have an issue with the vibration irritating my teeth or mouth (although you do feel it in your jaw when you touch the plastic brush body to one of your teeth) and it wasn’t abrasive to my gums. In addition, the phone app was super helpful to train you to apply “just the right amount of pressure” while brushing and brush your whole mouth evenly and for the optimal amount of time. I don’t know if I’d use the app every time I brushed, but its certainly nice to know if you are cleaning your teeth right (other than what the Dentist tells you).Overall, this brush is WELL worth the money and honestly with the charging travel case, they might have UNDER priced the unit. Really like this brush!

After many years of using a rotating electric toothbrush, I decided to try the sonic one. I use it already for two weeks, and this is my opinion.First of all, this model is the top model of Philips Sonicare. It comes with all necessary accessories (including cables, a travel case that can also charge the brush, stand, and A3 head). The quality of all parts is amazing. The premium look and feel of all parts is noticeable. The way how you use it is a little bit different than the rotating toothbrush. It uses sound instead of friction to clean your tooths. It is louder but more delicate, but the result is (in my opinion) better than the rotating one. It divides tooths into six sections and vibrations remind you to switch cleaning from one section to another. After connecting it to the phone (via Bluetooth) the brush is like a small computer. You have all statistics, it shows how efficient is the cleaning of each section, and the application allows to enable and disable additional options.I love my new toothbrush and I will not switch back to the rotating one.

I inherited teeth that are very close together. The kind of teeth that make you want to warn the hygienist before she tries to floss your teeth that she is about to get a workout. I soon learned that good oral care was the only way to avoid cavities between my teeth, and checkups usually included praise for my efforts. Then I developed some chronic health conditions that made gum disease likely, and I realized I was going to have to try harder. Buying this toothbrush is my attempt to do this.In general, I’m really pleased with this toothbrush. The included manual is extremely well written, and a full-color quick start card covers the basics in a clear, easy-to-understand format. As packaged, you can turn it off and on, and adjust the intensity of the brush, There is a battery indicator and another that lets you know when you need to replace the brush head. It holds a charge well, the protective cap fits well and stays in place, the handle feels nice in my hand, and it takes up very little space. It even includes a travel case. Although highest setting is too strong for me, the lowest works very well. I noticed an improvement in my gums within a week. Then there is the app. I didn’t realize the degree to which the app records your movements. I am not crazy about the lack of privacy, especially since I have no past problems with brushing my teeth and so don’t expect to derive a lot of help from it. I had problems downloading the app, and when I followed an online troubleshooting link, I found the content covered by a floating web page that required me to accept three types of cookies before I could read their solution. This is the kind of thing that makes me immediately reject an app or other content unless I have no choice. Making it hard to use just makes it worse. In retrospect I might have been happier with a brush that didn’t include the bells and whistles promised by the app. The brush works so well that I won’t dwell on this, though. Others may well find that the app adds value, especially if they have had previous issues resulting from problems brushing.

I like that it alerts me via app to go back and spend more time in areas I may have missed or didn’t brush as long. Too bad it is in the upper price range for electric toothbrushes, but I will keep it to make sure my teeth have a better cleaning.

I was so excited to finally get this brush so I could see for myself why Sonicare is the best selling toothbrush. It comes with only 1 brush head so based on my use with this 1 tip, I don’t like it. It is TOO powerful, wide, aggressive, and firm. I like soft bristles and so do my gums… If you turn this on and just look at the bristles vibrating, they have about a 4mm swing so don’t get this near your gums when cleaning the vertical surfaces of your teeth. It is fine for the horizontal areas. If I clench my teeth together and try to brush my top and bottom teeth together, this brush head is still too wide and it violates my gums. As it comes, I don’t like it. I have ordered knock-off nano brush heads (10,000 extremely fine and soft bristles) that are supposed to fit all Sonicare snap in brushes. But none of the replacement heads have RFID chips in them, so I’m not sure what the benefit of having those chips are. I was able to find Sonicare brand replacement heads that fit this brush and they are called “sensitive” and I like that brush, at any speed, with those tips. It is item# B0086VIA0M in the search bar. I don’t have sensitive teeth or gums, but I just prefer soft and that tip works for me.Beyond that, the toothbrush is not too bulky to hold and it does not vibrate your hand. Without installing their app to your cell phone, you can turn the brush on and off, that’s it. Without the app, it works in High speed only @ 62K vpm. The app is buggy and freezes constantly. From the app, it tells you where it wants you to brush. It does not actually tell you where you ARE brushing. You can change this in the app though so it will suggest what you want it to. There is a screen that pops up in front telling me it is “calibrated”. I can’t see anything beyond that annoying screen and I can’t get it to go away. I could have had my teeth brushed 15 minutes ago if I wasn’t fussing around with the damn app!I was finally able to adjust the toothbrush and put it in sensitive mode with low intensity. For me, it is much better and not so aggressive/harsh with the included medium tip on the lower speeds. Once your setting is changed in the app, the next time you turn the brush on, it should stay in that setting, yet it does not. You will always need to have your phone with you when brushing your teeth as it now starts at 62K. In the app, you have to input areas of concern that you know exist. If your bottom teeth have plaque build up or are prone to this, you add that info in. It will monitor plaque, gum recession, cavities, and bleeding areas.I do not know the VPM of the setting I have chosen for this, but it is certainly NOT 62,000vpm. So my guess as to the vpm of the setting I chose would be about 20-25,000vpm. I can’t think of 1 good reason why anyone would honestly need or even like 62,000vpm. It is destructive with the included brush head.If you register the product while you are setting the app up, the warranty is extended for 3 full years. Thankfully, they are not using the charging shot glass on this model! It is a small flat stand, but I was hoping for just a cord to charge. My new brush heads are in (nano sonicare knock offs) and I like them much better than what came with the brush, but most people would think this is too soft. I can even use it at high speed, 62K vpm without it feeling too aggressive. It feels more like polishing now.I like my Oguard brush better, which I can use out of the box with nothing overly fancy, complicated, or dependent on anything, and the heads are not too firm and I don’t NEED to bring my phone into the bathroom with me. For myself, in comparing the levels I selected for the Sonicare to operate at, it feels like my Oguard toothbrush. Colgate Hum offers an app to help guide and time you with brushing, and Fairywill offers 62K vpm. I Suppose Sonicare tried to combine them all into 1 at TRIPLE+ the price if I purchased each of those toothbrushes individually.I can’t say if this cleans my teeth better than any other brush that I have ever owned or used as I have pretty good dental habits and I floss daily. I just had my yearly cleaning and when I come home from those, I never feel amazed like other people do. To me, my teeth feel the same so I suppose I go in pretty good and come out a bit better, but not enough of a difference to feel. I’ll have to wait and see if my dentist notices anything different. I could see this being useful for younger people who may not know how to brush so well AND who live on their phones 24/7. I do wish there were options to change the settings on the handle, but they took that away and made it app dependent instead. So I use it at 62K or I don’t use it at all. This Sonicare, at the correct speed and with the correct brush head, can be beneficial to your routine to establish oral health or to correct or prevent dental issues. You also MUST floss as well no matter which toothbrush you choose to purchase! I have developed a liking to the sensitive brush head made by Sonicare as my preference is soft. My young son feels the same about that brush head too. For us, it is a great combination even at 62K.

300 bucks is alot for anything. What magic could a toothbrush offer that makes it worth the cost of a flight to Vegas? The App that’s what. It brings the Hygienist to your bathroom.I am not an App person.Plus, figure if I don’t know how to brush my teeth by now, what’s an App gonna do?Well, apparently I don’t know how to brush which is why I have sensitive teeth and,why I cringe having plaque chipped from my teeth at Every Cleaning.App gives great tips like holding the brush as flute not a tennis racket.Tilting brush at 45* angle to reach gums & brush quadrants vs across. Less likely to miss spots. The big one with a Sonic brush is no scrubbing. I know. It’s like saying don’t chew when you eat.All these little tweaks have not only given me a cleaner mouth but, my sensitivity is diminishing. If you don’t want to use the App, you can lock in Settings & never have to use it again. But here’s Why You Want To.Somehow it Senses where you missed & if you listen to it, Your Mouth is Hygienist Clean.Even without the App, and it will work without, SenseIQ is an Amazing brush.I also Cringe at Flossing so, use a Waterpic.Didn’t need my beloved Waterpic to get at all the spaces I’ll spare you details of.In case, you haven’t figured it out by now, regular dental visits were not my thing. Now I have a dentist, that I found in ’19 through Groupon (go figure), who I love & go 2x’s@yr.That was when I switched to Phillips Diamond. Got 2 as a Costco deal for both of us.This Prestige isn’t much different in features from the Diamond. Both have the Clean, Gum, White & Deep settings.Except with this one you have to set through app, and can Adjust Intensity. After my 1st use, Before I used the App, my teeth were Polished clean. After almost a Month with the App, I’m a Better Brusher & feel like a new person. There’s more details but, basically it’s just a learning curve, you’ll figure out what works for you.Is it worth the Price?Well~ is it worth it not be scared to go to the dentist? Or no shooting pain at a cold drink? If I didn’t own this & tried it first, Absolutely I Buy It in a Second.Between you & me, so stalking Prime Day, or Costco, to see if I can get him one too.But if not, I’d pay the 300 bucks. No Question.Coincidentally, 300 bucks was what his 2 cavities cost to have filled & SenseIQ is way easier.

This Sonicare 9900 comes in a stylish retail box with photographs of the brush and specifications on the outside. The base of the box pulls out once the seal at the bottom of the box is cut, revealing a white reusable cardboard box containing the brush and components. The first thing you’ll notice when you open the box’s lid is an instruction leaflet welcoming you to the ‘prestige experience.’The first step is to download the Philips Sonicare app to your phone, then link the handle to the app (presumably over Bluetooth to gain access to the complete spectrum of perks and continuing enhancements to your prestige experience, according to the company. It includes a really beautiful travel case, and the countertop charging is far superior. It has a plastic tray that covers the flat charging platform, making cleaning a breeze. Although water does collect in there, if you clean it as often as you should, it should never become filthy. I wish it had a tongue brushing function, but other than that, I really like this toothbrush. The cleanliness is outstanding. There are three strength levels on the brush, however I find that “low” is plenty for my requirements. The brush head is delicate but effective, and the clean is unrivaled. The design is sleek and feels good in my hand. The brush comes with a charging base that allows it to stand upright while charging, but it can also be charged with the provided cord. he app is well-designed. Shows me how thoroughly I’m covering all regions of my mouth, tells me whether I’m using too much or too little pressure, shows me how many brushes I have left on my current brush head, and lets me order extra brush heads right from the app. Overall, it’s a good toothbrush that also looks fantastic. This product is something I would recommend, although the pricing appears to be a little expensive.
