First of all, these sound incredible. They are analog headphones so the sound quality is going to depend highly on the DAC/Soundcard you have but, with good quality in, they give exceptional quality out. I switched to these after loving my HD 280 Pros for years. Since I’m working from home more often now, I wanted something with a mic but my primary concern was audio quality and these do not disappoint! I’m no audiophile, tho. Feel free to disagree with me.The closed back design is great at keeping out ambient noise and making sure that all you hear is the crisp, clear audio coming from your device without the added sonic pressure of Active Noise Cancelling.I’ve seen some other reviews about comfort. I wear these for 8 hours straight with no discomfort. I have a shaved head and the padding on the headband is super comfortable. I experience not fatigue or discomfort even after extended periods of use. Also note that I have rather large ears and these headphones are large enough not to compress them.Sennheiser is dedicated to quality. These are 100% worth the price. ($169 at time of review.)

The TLDR is that I changed to these from GAME ZERO (Razer gear before that) and the GSP 600 coupled with GSX 1000 is literally pinpoint accuracy in games, and it’s a notable improvement. It’s heavier, but if you set it up correctly it’s very comfortable, and the noise reduction is great. The only real downside is the price. Don’t forget to manually turn on the 7.1 from your computer’s sound control.AccuracyIt’s incredible, in games like fortnite I can tell where airdrops are from inside a building, or when someone sees me and tries to go around to get the drop on me I know exactly where they are. During a game of OW I could tell the location and direction of Hanzo’s ult, and avoid it before I could see it. It’s literally become my strongest tool in every FPS I play.ComfortI’ve tried a lot of headsets, and sennheiser is almost always the mot comfortable. This headset is heavier with the metal joints that add to it’s durability, but it’s still quite comfortable after you get it setup. Just make sure use the top contact adjuster for adjusting the strap on the top of your head (too low is too much pressure which causes fatigue, too high means it’s not touching which makes the ear cups overwork.) It’s not hot or sweaty, you can use this for hours without getting that annoying/painful feeling on your head some headsets cause. Just make sure you get the head strap setup correctly after adjusting the ears to the right length.MicI’ve had people in Discord and now Twitch chat tell me my mic is incredible. A better story and an extreme difference in price/product, my buddy had a cheap 7.1 headset, and it was annoying to listen to. It could get almost painfully loud or too quiet and I wasn’t the only one complaining, I was just the only one hearing it all the time. I convinced him to switch and my god it’s so smooth on my ears. Ironically he doesn’t sound anywhere near as whiny either. I’ve never met him in person but it’s changed my mental image of him.Noise CancellingIt’s incredibly well done. My wife has to tap me on the shoulder instead of yelling from downstairs. they’re coming out with an open headset for about 30 dollars less in a few weeks, so it’s very much personal preference. If you need to block out background noise you wont find better than these. If you need to hear what’s going on around you then you’ll want to wait for the 500s.7.1 in games and outIt’s really well done. It’s a bit hard to describe the difference but when you use something like the GSX 100 to turn it on and off it’s a stark contrast. You basically go from an immersive in the game/video experience to feeling like your watching TV. I’ve gravitated towards watching my shows on the computer instead of on the large Samsung in the other room. ***YOU DO have to set it up manually, right click your audio device and once you select the headset the lower left corner has a configure buttons, select 7.1 and make sure everything is checked off. The instructions don’t mention this, but if you need a walkthrough instruction for other headsets by Sennheiser or even the GSX 100 will get you there.Sounds quality I’m not going to get technical but it’s phenomenal, this is what Sennheiser is known for. The bass is deep and the sound is so rich and smooth, you wont go back. The ear cups can indeed come off (per the instructions) though it’s a bit of work. The mic seems short but it hasn’t effected how people hear me other than I never hear myself breathing in it.For people using these plugging into a standard computer sound board, the accuracy of where sounds are coming from will be lower. A lot of games now enable a good deal of sound accuracy without a 7.1 emulator. If the GSX is too pricy with this headset but you want more accuracy from a particular game you’ll want to look into either a bitter sound board (which can also be pricey) or a dolby 7.1 emulator chip that this headset can plug into that would then plug into a USB port.A headset like this *might* be considered overkill for just a console (though it works with both). The mic and quality of sound will still be there however so it depends on your situation.

I’m not an audiophile or anything but when I put these on the first time after replacing my cheaper headset (Razer Kracken TE) I noticed an extremely big difference between this and the Razer headset. Sound quality is superb and the drivers recreate sound realistically in games like Call of Duty where hearing foot steps ina certain direction can easily save your bacon. I feel like spatial awareness is 100% better with these than the Razer headset I had.In addition to sound quality, these things are also super comfortable to wear for long periods of time when sized appropriately. I have a humongous head (like almost have to special order hats humongous) and after playing with the different adjustments for fit, I’ve easily worn these for 7-8 hours straight on a couple of occasions with no pain or headaches. If you’re having pain with these, it’s you. Play with the different adjustments….if my big old dome can wear these for extended periods without issue anyone should be able to.There is a seemingly common issue with the ear pads falling apart on these headsets. I’ve had mine now for going on 2 months and have not experienced this issue as of yet. I use mine 3-4 times a week for a few hours each time usually, and I’m an adult that spent my own money on these so I do take care of them as well.

These things are pretty awesome. I had Astro a40s then a50s for a while and I got these and noticed some sound differences right away. Didn’t like it at first. After about a week I tried my astros again, and in comparison they sound terrible. These things are pretty awesome. The noise cancelling is amazing. Can’t hear anything, which is unfortunately why I may have to return them and get some open back head phones (have small kids), but if you don’t want to hear anything around you buy these. I’m very impressed by the quality of these.

Updated Review:So after spending more time than I’d like into into finding suitable replacement earpads to this $200 headset – I’ve confirmed that the $20 earpads sold on EPOS’ website are legitimately OEM and are amazing!! I cleaned up the frame and carefully replaced the pads, making sure not to break the plastic clips that hold the pads in place, and my headset is as good as new!! Bought a backup set of pads for when the replacements fall apart too. I’m ready now!Note to the Sennheiser Marketing Team: Not only should the OEM replacement earpads be sold on Amazon – in the product-description you should emphasize the earpads that fall apart after 6 months are user replaceable. Anyone who seeks replacement earpads on Amazon will only find 3rd party sellers rather than the perfect fit OEM version engineered by Sennheiser. To the Sennheiser engineering team: awesome product!Original Review:I originally planned to buy a cheap $40 logitech pair but I figured I’d buy something sturdy that would last longer. Other buyers posted images of the ear cups tearing and I figured that was just bad luck. Nope: they spoke the truth. Not only did the seams on the ear cups become loose and fall apart — the material itself disintegrated after the third month of use. If Sennheiser had at least cared about their customers enough to offer replaceable ear cups I’d give this 5 stars–but they don’t. They’re ok with leaving us with torn overpriced headsets.

Starting off, these headphones are kinda small. I don’t see how so many people claim they are so big. They also claim they are “Average”. I didn’t know average size was below 5 feet…. I am 5’10 with a large head. Some people also claim it hurts their head. Seems to me they don’t know how to adjust fitment.So. I get the package, I open it. I pull them out, and start to try to find the right fit. I adjust each side one by one to get the cups over my ears. STOPPING THERE would be a mistake, as at that point the top band is too tight on the head. I then go one more click on each side. This makes the top band merely REST on my head, as apposed to forcing down upon it. I wore these headphones today for the first time for over 4 hours while gaming, watching movies, and listening to music to test them out. My head DID NOT get hot like people claim (nor my ears). They were very comfy. The weight isn’t a big deal. They are only like 50-80 grams heavier than my Beyerdynamic DT990 premiums (600 ohm version). In terms of audio quality, I am kinda of spoiled as my sound card is modified with new capacitors and custom soldered burr brown opamps. That mixed with these headphones, makes for a damn nice combo. Compared to the DT990 premiums, the sennheiser being closed back headphones, have better bass and even punchier mid bass. Compared to sennheiser 598’s, these surpass the 598’s in quality AND comfort. Granted, the 598’s are open back just like the dt990’s. Comparing once again to sennheiser hd700’s, these have better bass as they are closed back compared to the 700’s open back, but the 700’s top end is much softer and nicer, where as the gsp 600 have kind of a harsh top end. To me, this is easily remedied by bumping up the bass just a little bit at 32hz and 60hz. Comparing AGAIN to akai profession 50x headphones (which are closed back like these) the akai have better bass but the top end is severely lacking the the highs seem like they are missing, while the gsp 600 are slightly harsh. All in all for the price, you are definitely getting quality. Anyone complaining they sound bad, are either using a cheap sound card or worse, on-board from a cheap motherboard. In terms of microphone quality, the only comparison i can make is VS the mod mic 5. In terms of how well the microphones pick up sound, the gsp 600 microphone seems to definitely pick up sound a lot easier, which means when using technology to mute background noises, it works more efficiently. Using my sound card for noise reduction, it works perfectly and makes me sound crystal clear, where as doing the same on the mod mic required me to also use acoustic echo cancellation…. these don’t need it! So far on discord, they have noticed i sound a lot clearer, as well as picking up more of the low end of my voice, where the mod mic seemed to lack the bass-y-ness of my voice. So all in all a nice clear mic so people can hear me clearly and correctly. All in all I give this headset a 5/5. I was looking for a headset for gaming, as I have been constantly using studio grade headphones with the mod mic 5…. the studio headphones ive owned are mostly open back, meaning everyone can hear what i hear, and i can hear whats going on in the room. With these I can focus on the game more. Some people noted that when they use the mic, they find themselves talking louder because they cannot hear themselves due to the sound isolation, me personally i only notice this issue if there is dead silence. if there is any kind of sound going through the headset, i don’t even notice that i can’t hear myself because usually when you are listening to a game’s sounds, you don’t anyway! Any issues people have are personally on them. The point of this headset is to use the earcups for the main force to hold them on your head. As I said, I have a large head, I don’t have to adjust the “special” adjusters on the top as they are already tight. Changing that top two bands results in the ear cups pressing onto my head even harder than needed. A smaller head person would probably do a click or two, and a child three or four setting.I would recommend these for gaming, music, and movies, with a proper sound card. Sennheiser recommends that you buy their 1000 or 1200 external dac, to properly drive the headphones in terms of “quality”, not so much that they are “hard to drive” as even a cell phone can drive these headphones.I would LOVE for sennheiser to make a super crazy pair, using the same mic, but having the quality of their elite tier (hd600 or better), maybe lighter weight (not a big deal but many seem to complain) and maybe include a shorter cable. My sound card has an external volume control that i plug all my headphones/mics into, which sits less than 3 feet from me. A super short headphone cable would suit me well…..

Been using this for about a week now and it’s my favorite Gaming headset.Pros:Ear cups don’t make your ears sweat.Adjustable headband with a new slider system on top that provides more options.Mic is crystal clear according to my friend on Discord. Can wear for hours without worrying about head fatigue.Removable braided cables that are very light weight.Simple design for a Gaming Headset.Good amount of Bass.Built like a tank.Cons:Price dropped by 60$ from the time I bought mine.Mic is a little short. No lines on the notches to show how far you have moved each side.Would be nice to have removable ear cups like the Astro A40 TR.A little on the heavy side.Doesn’t make coffee.Overall they are really the best ones that I have and I have other Sennhesierss and Astros but this pair they put a lot of thought into these.

I tried both the 600 and 500 on a GSX1000 with 7.1 enabled. Both are truly great headsets. I decided to go with the 500 for gaming. On the 600, it was slightly harder to pinpoint where sounds were behind you. In comparison to what was in front of you, sounds behind you felt louder and closer than they should be. I suppose this could be an advantage for you if someone was sneaking up on you, but it ended up confusing me because they weren’t as close as I had anticipated. Noises to the left and right of you also felt louder, but this didn’t feel as confusing. I can admit that it actually helped to warn and prepare you for left and right flanks. The bass on the 600s was also overpowering, though this could be tweaked with EQ settings. If you were next to a window, the rush of wind sounded like a hurricane or that you were on a mountaintop than the bathroom of a two story house… 🙂 On the 500s, the rush of wind was noticeable, but it wasn’t as overbearing and in your ear. I will say that gunfire sounded great on the 600s. There was more umph and power behind every round fired than with the 500s. Its true, the 500s do give you a better sense of direction and positioning of where objects/enemies are, you have less margin for error and more precision on where a sound is and how close it is to you compared to other sounds around it. I guess this is the advantage they mean by open cans like the 500 having a bigger soundstage. However, the 600s still do a solid job of immersion. If you feel that you’d get annoyed by the sound of your case fans or nearby family chatter, I would happily choose the 600s, they’re still a solid choice. I would definitely go with the 600s for single player games. For multiplayer games, the 500s might give you a slighter edge than the 600s because of that slightly better sense of positioning of where things are in relation to you.

Headset fantastic for listening to music, watching a movie, and/or gaming, especially when coupled with a decent dedicated sound card/stereo setup to get the most out of them. Awesome highs, lows, and mids. For those that prefer the closed back, which always provides better sound and privacy. Mic sounds great, but be aware that it is very sensitive, requiring dropping the output volume a bit to prevent being too loud.Keep in mind that since the ear cups seal so well around most ears (as expected for this type of headset) after ~2-3 hours of constant use, expect your ears to be quite warm and in need of a break, especially after a heavy gaming session.Unlike other reviewers, I have no issues with the earpiece fabric after over a year of 15-30 hours of use a week. Hardly any indication of wear (see pic). When they are not in use, they hang on a headset stand. One slight issue are the adjustable sliders at the top. It’s a bit hard to tell what they actually adjust.

I was totally blown away when I plugged these in. Great bass, great mids and great highs. I don’t know how they do it. The mic quality is amazing as well. I just need to get a pair of these for my brother now so it doesn’t sound like he’s using a tin can and a peice of string to communicate with us over VOIP in game. This gaming headset is my new standard. All headsets need to be measured up to these. I can’t get rid of my Astro Mixamp yet because it has amazing surround and I haven’t quite found the right software to replace it so for now I have this headset plugged in to the mixamp.Shotguns in game are the most thunderous thing now. And those sweet sweet headshots are just that much more skull cracking. Truly an amazing headset. Even listening ing to music on my phone blew me away.I’m not too sure about the adjustments for ear cup pressure. I don’t really feel a difference but it may just be because my head is smaller. I’ll have to stick them on someone else and see if they feel a difference. But other than that, everything about this headset is spot on, especially the volume knob. Amazing work by Senheiser.
