Perfect size, specs, and features. Im a tech junkie and this is small sleek and has everything you could want.Airflow is well thought out. Touch screen is just like using a phone. Extremely reliable, and tablet mode is wonderful. I bought this for college, and for when I want to be around the house but not at a desk, and so far this is comfortable everywhere with good battery life. Programming on the fly!Only things I could say were inconvenient is the webcam is not totally up to date when using it in tent mode on your lap and can be upside down. I’m sure an update in the future will fix this to rotate the webcam. The fingerprint sensor is in a strange spot but you get used to it. I would’ve liked to see the 1TB model, but can’t find it anywhere.I love this laptop. Great job Acer for giving us a great laptop at a good price and not skimping anywhere!

This replaced a Dell Latitude which started strong, faded fast and is being replaced by the Acer Spin 5 after 2 years. Acer Spin 5:Monitor: 3:2 aspect ratio, which I prefer, it isn’t 4k, but it’s about halfway between a regular and a 4k Keyboard: Nice touch and feel, you can tell when you’ve pressed a key properly. It’s nearly edge to edge, but due to the width which is ever so slightly narrower than the 13.3 inch with 16:9 aspect ratio, it’s a compact keyboard, but it’s been flawless for me. Backlighting turns off after 30 seconds of idle time.Touchpad: Believe it’s plastic, not 100% sure, if it’s plastic, it will show wear at some point, which has never been anything more than a cosmetic issue in other laptops I have owned, so I don’t care. It’s offset to the left, which is great for me as I’m right handed and has a fingerprint reader in the upper left corner. Clicks are tactilely pleasing.Chassis: Acer says aluminum, no reason to doubt that, but the outer coating paint feels like textured epoxy. It’s thin. Has 4 rubber bumpers placed in the upper and lower corners next to keyboard to protect monitor and keyboard when closed. Durability of these types of pads on past laptops has been iffy, 2 of them fell off the 2018 Dell Latitude I’m replacing, hoping for these to hold up better.Under the hood: 10th Gen i7 1067-G7 with 16 MB LPDDR4X, 512GB NVMe SSD, Wi-Fi 6. This setup flies, for my business oriented use, it’s like buying a Ferrari as a commuter car. (Special mention about Wi-Fi 6 AX201 802. 11ax: This really works. Old laptop would lose my wi-fi connection at least once a day, this one hasn’t dropped once. As far as connection speed, speed tests show it’s consistently 20-25% faster than 2018 laptop.)Active Stylus: This is housed in a built in charger “garage” so should never lose it and it will stay charged. Acer claims a 15 second charge in the charger garage will give it 1 hour charge. I use the stylus so it was a selling point. It’s length is fine, but it’s circumference is quite small, if you use the stylus a lot, that may be a pain.Ports: 2) USB 3. 1 Type C port supporting USB 3. 1 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps), DisplayPort over USB-C, Thunderbolt 3, USB Charging, DC-in, 2 – USB 3. 2 Gen 1 port (one featuring power-off charging) & 1 – HDMI 2. 0 portBattery: Don’t know how long it will go on battery only, I’ve used it for up to 4 hours with no issues, but typically I may use it battery only for a couple hours a couple times a week. I have a power inverter in my vehicle so when I’m working there, It’s on the cord.I’ve had it a week and really like it, so far it’s my all time favorite laptop, hard to believe how light this is at just over 2.65 pounds. I have become acclimated to the active stylus and use it for work with the Nebo app, OneNote and it’s useful. However, my relationship with my Dell Inspiron from 2018 started off great and ended poorly, hope this turns out better. As of now, this is a keeper.

Purchased an Acer Spin series Chromebook earlier this year (renewed) and decided to take a chance on their newest Win 10 Spin version. VERY impressive!! It was so lightweight I thought it was fake at first. Cold boot to login screen is about 8-10 seconds.The two Lightning ports are great. Adding a combination of Thunderbolt adapters gave me access to old Firewire devices still very useful but long forgotten. For one, they allowed me to resurrect an older Focusrite firewire audio interface.The only issue with it is finding an appropriately fitting sleeve. It’s not HD but 3:2 ratio. Physically more square than most 2-in-1’s. After studying internal dimensions of many sleeves on Amazon and purchasing several, I found the Momiso with the diamond pattern (w/small accessory bag) to fit best (ASIN# B01M2YBQOM). Perfect, really. I think it looks a little feminine but you can’t beat the padding. The smooth, denim material Momiso w/small accessory bag) lists the same internal dimensions but actually is not. Sleeve is 1/4″ too shallow. I suspect this laptop will become popular soon then hard to find afterwards.

I’m fortunate to have researched online until I came across many reputable IT sites reviews about this extraordinary ultra lightweight* ACER SPIN 5 13.5″ 2-in-1 convertible (lap-tab). The touch screen and resolution quality are great, has above average battery life, and is blazing fast! It stands above its worthy competition in the industry by hitting every high mark in features and performance, especially at 40% the cost of those other well-known, highly rated brands! Well, now that I’ve had it a couple of days, I can say this: It has a snappy (good tactile feedback) keyboard with 6 rows of keys which is nice since my old one only had 5 with double duty on the top row. It is deeper (front to back) than others in the same class (over 9″) which is a 3/2 screen ratio which makes it better for documents. I was forever opening and closing the ribbon in Excel to get real estate and now I don’t have to do that. The screen resolution is also a little higher than normal high def without paying the big bucks for 4K at 2256 x 1504. It has 4 USB ports: 2 Thunderbolts and 2 USB-A type, a full size HDMI and an SD card reader. It still has an earphone jack. (I hear some are doing away with it.) There’s a fingerprint reader in the corner of the touch pad. It works better than the one on my Samsung phone. It has a slide-in compartment for the stylus which is nice. The Dell XPS stylus magnetic and sticks on the outside. And best of all, it was almost half the price of the Dell XPS 2 in 1 with the identical components (10th generation i7 processor,16 Gb ram, 512 Gb SSD and Iris Plus graphics). All in all, I’m pretty happy with it. One thing was really miserable though…I moved My Documents from my old laptop to One Drive, then from One Drive to the new laptop. It got hung up when I tried to delete them from One Drive when I was done. I’m blaming Microsoft for that.

I just love this notebook after my first full week. I thought I needed to get a bigger laptop because I was having trouble reading my older 14″ laptop display. Instead I bought a smaller laptop with a much brighter and sharper display to make it easier to read. I love that it is a taller 3:2 display so that more of a webpage is displayed at one time. Documents are so much easier to read when there is more of the document visible at one time.Of course this laptop is fast and LIGHT and very clever. I had not thought about taking my old laptop to bed because the battery would run down, it would overheat on the soft surface, and sometimes the fan noise was distracting. I love that I can use this as a conventional laptop while holding it in one hand or flip it and make it into a tablet and use it that way in either a portrait or landscape orientation. When I am done for the evening, I can just set it aside and pick it up where I left off in the middle of the night or the next day. i probably have plenty of battery left. Battery life is listed as up to 18 hours but more like 8 hours of heavy Chrome browser use. This is a disappointment — but a very meager one. Recharge is pretty rapid so not a big deal.So far my biggest disappointment is that there don’t appear to be tailored cases or skins for this beautiful notebook.I did add a USB to ethernet adaptor for those times that WiFi isn’t available, stable, or appropriate. Yes, these notebooks are so thin that they cannot physically fit an ethernet connector in the case.

Sleek and lightweight to carry but a little powerhouse of productivity!Screen brightness is a stunner, I use mine at just 7-10 in the day and 2-4 at night, the bluelight filter goes on automatically at dusk too.Very responsive stylus for drawing and Photoshop works a treat with this screen.That you can use an external keyboard and be able to CHOOSE tablet OR computer mode when it is folded as a huge tablet is great! Fun to use as a hybrid-scrolling the mouse, using the pen or touching screen while working or playing games is a brilliant choice on Acer’s part.You can even answer your phone with it. Yes it takes two hands to switch modes and the hinge is a bit stiff but that also means it stays in whatever position you set it at for the perfect viewing angle.The connections are unparalled as well as great response time with external hubs.Zero lag of voice or picture when casting to the TV from your streaming apps, external DVD or just your screen. Wired speaker/headphone connections as well as bluetooth available, once again choice choice choice is a wonderful thing.One super trivial pet peeve is the difficulty in finding the power button, I would have made that to stick out just a tiny bit so it is easier to find.

This unit was purchased to replace a big brand premium tank-like 2-in-1 notebook I purchased, but returned after being frustrated by heat, noise and field service issue. For nearly 30 years, I have been a notebook computer user for business purpose (having used most well-known brands). I am also the IT administrator of a small organization running Windows server.This Acer 2-in-1 serves all my needs of a mobile computing device.Pros:1. Light weight. Compact, convenient.2. Quiet, have never been aware if the fan is working. It does work sometimes, but not intrusive.3. Cool, not a lap-warmer.4. Well-built (surely not like a tank-type convertible, but sturdy enough to be used on the road.5. The “docked in-house” rechargeable stylus is very handy. Don’t have to find a place for it elsewhere.Cons:1. Not many I can think of.2. The screen size might not appeal to all. But it does show a paper easily on screen. Very helpful when displaying paper in tablet mode. Some reviewers may not like having thickened black bars when viewing. But if we are attracted into the screen contents, we care less about the rest (including the screen margins).I think Acer is an underrated brand – probably hasn’t done enough “marketing.” We have bought more Acer computers in recent years (Swift 5 convertible, Traveler prior to Spin 5). We bought the premium 2-in-1 notebook (which we returned) because of reading good reviews on web. They didn’t mention (or mentioned, but not explicitly) on the heat and noise issues. Only when we read the brand’s community messages then we knew….An example shows how biased, or ignorant, those web reviewers were. The top-right key of Acer Swift 5 is the power key (they are not alone, some brands have same arrangement). Didn’t noticed when buying. More than one on-line reviewer coined this a disadvantage – because it takes up the usual “Del” key position (the usual top-right position). They call it a disadvantage (inconvenience) because pressing it (when trying to press “Del” key) will cause the computer to shut down. The fact is: this power key works only when starting the unit. Pressing it when the unit is on has no effect – will not shut down the unit.So far we have been very pleased with the several Acers we have bought. Some reviewers don’t like their bloatware. My feedback is: if you don’t use them, they don’t pose a problem (is shortcut to launching Amazon a bloatware?), the pre-installed software you can uninstall if not interested. If Acer is sinful giving us bloatware, they “compensate” by bundling two full-feature photo and video editing software (only photo-editing software with Swift 5). These two pieces of software clearly aren’t bloatware.

For some backstory, I have never been one to buy a product based on its peripherals, such as touchscreen, or keyboard, or anything of that nature. I’ve always wanted pure power. My first few laptops were purchased based on me weighing how fast it is for the buck.This purchase was different because I had different goals in mind for a laptop. My goal for this purchase was to have the perfect laptop for note taking in college (and to save the hundreds of wasted loose leaf paper used to practice my 5 mathematics courses). The only option for me was a 2 in 1 laptop. After some research, this laptop seemed to give the most bang for the buck. So, here I am!This laptop surprised me in just how premium it felt. It was much thinner than any other laptop I’ve ever owned, yet it felt sturdier and more secure. Probably because it is made of metal, as opposed to a cheap plastic. I feel like This laptop wont just out of nowhere, have a damaged hinge, like my last laptop did, even though I didn’t drop it or anything. It is strong and feels really nice. The metal is a nice matte aluminum, so it feels nice to the touch and doesn’t smudge easily.In terms of the performance of this laptop, it is really impressive. This specific laptop in the spin 5 series has impressive stats in every sector of computing. Very nice CPU, with the i7, a lot of ram at high speeds (3200 MHZ I think), and a super speedy NVMe SSD, which makes this thing load stuff almost instantly. It even turns on from being booted off almost instantly. Its very nice and perfect for people who need a computer that is usable the instant that they need it.The touchscreen with the wacom pen is amazing, plain and simple. The touchscreen feels better than my smart phone, so obviously I think its great, and the pen feels almost like i’m writing on paper. More like a slightly sticky whiteboard, but still. Because of that, I believe that 98% of what I write down next semester will be on this bad boy. It just completely replaces pen and paper. Now I can feel better because I am not wasting so much paper.Now for some downsides. The screen aspect ratio is stupid. Yes, I said it, having a taller screen is a thing of the past yet this laptop thought it could get away with it. It looks stupid and feels stupid. Videos now have huge upper and lower black bars, which wastes screen real estate. They even advertise the taller screen as a feature, as if it is a new technology. Come on!This laptop is kind of hard to open. You definitely need two hands to do it and you have to tilt it up to where the hinge is down and the part that it opens is facing up and then you have to pry it open. I think its like this because of the magnets they use to keep it closed. Its not the worst thing, because of how I love this computers features, but It does annoy me.The touchpad is hard to click with. You have to press pretty hard so it makes clicking a little clunky. It isn’t the end of the world, but mac books are definitely easier in this sector.And that is about it in the cons department. I highly recommend this product. If you don’t mind the cons that I listed, this laptop is perfect for being on the go!

Where did all our ports go? Lately, its difficult to find a decent laptop with ports! Probably the only port “missing” is an rj45, which is rarely used anyway with a wifi enabled laptop.(Touch)Screen is beautiful. The first time I scrolled a website I appreciated the taller screen – lets face it, 16×9 is great for TV but not for productivity! Audio speakers are PLENTY loud. Stylus worked fine for me. Battery life varies greatly depending on usage demands, brightness, and performance settings – I’m deducting a star for lower than expected battery life in the feature rating, but overall its still a 5 star machine. By far the best/fastest lappy i’ve owned.Charges via the thunderbolt 3 connector! (Note that’s with a TB3 wall adapter AND a TB3 cable. Didn’t work with just any wall charger/cord.) Finally can charge my phone AND laptop from a single wall charger! Now I can leave the big power supply at work/home and not have to lug it around in my bag! (And if the wife loses her power supply (again), she can use the TB3 port instead.) This is a huge plus!Another cool feature was to press the windows+P button and very QUICKLY push it up to my TV to share content with others. Seriously simple and quick!Installing programs was FAST. This thing is quick! (I have the i5 10th gen vers, which uses less juice than the i7 version. I probably would have gotten the i3 (or AMD) version for a longer battery life, but sometimes I need to video edit and i3 just can’t hang with that.)Function keys offer direct access to increase/decrease brightness and sound volume. Touch pad seems fine, could be a bit bigger, and I’m not a fan of the bioscanner on it, but it doesn’t bother me nor slow me down.This really is head and shoulders above my previous 13″ Acer with a 6th gen i5, 6gb ram, and 1080 touchscreen, and lighter.Had it 3 days and super happy. Will update this if it disappoints.
