So when i first got this speaker it had a failing charging port but the company sent me a warranty replacement and its worked perfectly since then. This product has superb sound and great battery longevity. I use this product daily and its amazing. I am so glad I got the opportunity to try this product again. I am so happy about this and I wouldn’t go with any other speaker and their customer service is top notch I would recommend them to all my friends and family, they are very prompt and friendly. Thank you DOSS for the great service and product!

I was hesitant to purchase another bluetooth portable speaker because the Doss Soundbox Touch has worked so well. This speaker has not let me down. It weighs more than the Touch model, and the physical size is larger, but not by much. The textured sides give it a nice feel, while making sure not to drop it when moving it from room to room. The front facing grill feels plenty tough, however I don’t feel like really putting it to the test.In the box, you get; A USB to Micro USB charge cord, 3.5mm Male to Male headphone cable, and the Instruction Manual. Quite easy to follow, from opening the package, to getting started playing some tunes. Bluetooth was very simple and quick to pair, and the automatic pairing time, from off to on, is relatively quick. The startup tone is not overwhelming, nor is it overly loud. The light ring around the speaker grill is not too bright, and the ability to change the light mode, or just turn them off, is nice. I personally like the solid, but color fading mode.On to the sound! Volume output speaks plenty. For 20w, it can fill even a loud area with music pretty easily. At full volume, there is little distortion. The highs are crisp, and the mid range is right where I like it. Not much for low frequency output, but the drivers are not physically big enough to move much for air, therefore not much bass can be output. I did seem to get a bit more depth out of it, just by carefully choosing the placement of the speaker in any given room. Corners, and window ledges seem to be friendly to it. The “Bass Boost” button on the top, seems to me like more of a “low pass filter”. The higher frequency seems to be cut, to give the effect of more mid/low range. I don’t hear any more bass produced, so I just chose to leave the feature off. Comparing the Soundbox Pro to the Soundbox Touch, I’d have to say the mid volume output of both of them is very similar. The Pro however, was able to drown out the Touch when I cranked them both up.Now for the function I purchased the speakers to try! TWS (True Wireless Stereo), is a way that two of the speakers can be used at the same time, when linking the main speaker to a bluetooth enabled device. I used my iPhone 6. Paired to the first speaker I opened, turning the second speaker on, and holding the “Add” button on top of both. They linked to each other quick, and give you the indicator lights on top as to which is the left/right speaker. Both lights (if used) will sync, as will the volume and bass boost. I tested them as far as 25ft from each other, and they stayed in sync just fine. Having two of them, makes filling a room with music, that much easier. You’ve done very well again, Doss!

I vowed to be a loyal (somewhat) customer towards Doss when it came to my Bluetooth speakers. My first model finally gave out after 3 to 4 years of extensive use and my carelessness in keeping my speakers from hitting the floor or falling into water. I’ve had this for about two months now and right off the bat you can tell it has the same build quality as my first, heavy and durable. One thing I miss the most is the touch sensors up top but in exchange I get an entertaining lightshow. The touch buttons added more security from damage if I were to use the buttons while my hands were wet. I don’t use the bass feature much as I listen to rock mostly and it lowers the volume substantially from mids and highs. Personally though, if I want to modify bass I go through my equalizer on Poweramp (check it out in the app store) for superior crisp sound. That music app can make a cheap Bluetooth speaker blow Beats out of the water for years.Anyways, if you want durable, loud and cosmetically attractive you’ll want to get this. Trust me, you won’t regret it. You’ll get a good 4 years of use out of it if not more with proper care unlike me sometimes.

Got to admit. I am an avid shopper by brand name. This time I wanted to replace my Bose Color Sound Link portable speaker that broke and This speaker acutally sounds a lot better than the Bose. It has the ability to create crispier and louder mid and high range sounds and the bass on it is ridiculously good. The LED bar around the edges is a nice touch and if you don’t care for it, you can turn it off. It quickly and easily pairs with your phone once it us turned on. The quality of the speaker is very good. This speaker does not feel cheap to the touch. You can tell quality parts were used to make it. The best feature of all is the fact that you can use it during phone calls. This speaker has a built in mic, so you do not have to have your phone near you, or in the same room to speak on the phone. All you need to have is the speaker near you.

im not sure what people are talking about the product being defective as i got mine and it worked fine but usually your normal customer won’t be doing a dissemble like i do to check on the internal build like i did all i did was simply just made some adjustments and it was ready for football level abusePros:Party Light:although you could set it to just one color strobe, multicolor fade or solid color mode or even turn it off with a simple buttonSound Quality:for most part its good with vocals the bass boost does give it an increase in the mid range noticeable if you have a keen ear for itBattery life:i could get a couple hours before charging it although when im using it at work im not using it with the light on but when i go home i have it onMedia Sources:you can use Aux,bluetooth or tfcard (microsd card) to play media i personally use bluetooth for convenienceCons:Grill:the grill sticks out too much to the point if the speaker was dropped you can expect the grill to get damaged and pop outRubber feet:these won’t stay stable on every single surface but it works fine on wood and plastic tables so if you are in an office environment you’ll be goodfor the casual user this would be a good speaker for most parts the sound quality is adequate enough for most music tastes the battery life lasts me throughout most of hours at work so its a good candidate for my personal useBest regards,A

If all you have is a laptop speaker or you buying this as a phone loudspeaker then this is a good buy for you. Do not expect rich bass. Extra Bass feature seems iffy, you are better off setting up EQ settings on your phone or PC/Laptop. Some tracks that heavily rely on bass (quite a rare occurrence, I’d say 95% of the time you should be fine) will force the speaker to cut those high frequency bands, giving you a feel as though you’re turning Extra Bass feature on and off throughout the track :c. The best solution I have for squeezing out that bass potential off of this speaker is strategically placing it in a ‘sub-woofer location’. This would be the floor (under your table for instance) and normally to the side of the position you are sitting in (corners would be nice too). If you simply put it at the sides of your monitor on top of the desk you can still get some nice booms but not that deeper/softer vibration you can get form the floor and/or corner. I found controls pretty standard to any other bluetooth device, with few pokes and clicks you don’t even need to read the manual XD (although I did read the manual to check for any missed features). Once you connect it to the phone it’ll show battery level icon in the task bar, like most headphones nowadays. I found loudness of the speaker very satisfactory (in a small room maybeh too loud :P). Initially, the volume buttons were not ‘synced?’ with the phone controls, so when I tried to turn the volume up I hit a speaker limit. It started to beep- telling me that the volume is maxed even though it was not playing very loud. Once I used the phone volume buttons it actually properly leveled the volume and the sweet sweet sound of eardrum breaking air vibrations was unleashed :O. So watch out for this initial ‘glitch’. Was happy to see that you can disable the light (it has 3 or 6 different colors solid, blinking; did not look into this feature too much cuz it annoys me :P). The build feels solid. Nice, soft texture. On medium volume gets a bit warm on the top. Bluetooth range is decent as long as either of the connected devices is not too close to your body (for instance phone is in your pocket) and in-between the devices (walls are fine, density difference?IDK lol). Calling feature is decent enough. You may find yourself forced to talk a bit louder than usual unless you are right in front of the speaker XD. Once the call is terminated music restarts play automatically, unless you use the phone to hang up. You cannot dial or use Siri or any other phone assistant via speaker. Although if your phone is nearby and music isn’t too loud ‘Hey Siri’ works well. That should be it; although I just got it I’m satisfied with what I see and hear. Hopefully it lasts.

There are a few types of things I have collected over the years. Camera equipment and speakers. My friend had a smaller one of these in his car for park/picnic days, so I knew the brand name already. I wanted something a little louder and this speaker delivers!Battery life – have played this thing on full blast for a few hours and it hasn’t died yet.Sound quality – this speaker is LOUD. Don’t expect mind shaking bass BUT it will fill up the entire room with sound.Build quality – very nice. Good speakers have heavy magnets and this thing is pretty hefty for its size, which would explain why it’s so loud. I got the gray and it’s a nice rubbery texture. Would be hard to lose grip of it. I haven’t tested the water resistance yet (hopefully won’t have to) but the seals look solid and it should survive a water incident just fine.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  Review of the Doss Soundbox Pro speaker-sUnboxing.I received 2 Doss Soundbox Pro speakers from Amazon on 8-2-2018.Packaging was good and sturdy. Opening each speakers box you will find 2 clear, roundTape stickers along the opening seam as is standard in most items today. A quick slice of a knife and your in. Inside you are greeted with a thick black plastic lid that covers a very well defined molded shell made of the same plastic and it holds the speaker very well. The speaker is wrapped in a whitish colored almost rubberized plastic bag and is taped very well for and added layer of protection. You will also find a very well written instruction booklet. Chinese to English has been very well done. Very impressed with the packaging. The build.I ordered 2 Gray speakers and they are light gray. They have a slightly rubberized feel but not the kind that will wear off over time. The finish is flat without any shine so fingerprints should not be an issue. The front grill is of a strong and thick metal that is softly rounded as it curves back into the edges of the speaker. Pressing on the grill finds it to be really resilient and even using multiple fingers at once to tap at the grill, there is a very solid sound of it being strongly connected to the speaker housing. Around the whole grill is a semi clear whitish plastic ring that allows the lighting effects to be seen. With the gray color speaker that I ordered you cannot even tell these rings are there as they blend in so well they actually look to be gray just like the speaker.I feel that the grill will withstand a good rough handling with out the fear of denting it in.The buttons on top are recessed and slightly lower into the main cabinet of the speaker, making them very easy to find in total darkness. The cover covering the power input, auxiliary input, SD card input is a thick multi ringed seal with a recessed finger hole next to it within the speaker housing. When closed this plug lays flush to the speaker housing and there is no chance of it getting caught on something and it coming open. The plug cover is tethered to the speaker housing using a free floating thick strap of sorts that floats in and out of the speaker and is also covered up when it is closed.I have seen many cheap plug covers on speakers, especially ones from Japan or China but I must say the attention to the detail on this speaker truly shows. Very robust. There are 4 soft rubber feet on the bottom that are glued in yet seem like they will last. Also along with the booklet you will find a USB charging cable and a stereo to stereo jack adaptor that allows you to plug directly into a phone or other audio source that may not have Bluetooth output.Typical fair with today’s equipment purchases. They do not come with the wall box power adaptor so you must supply one of your own or plug them into your computer to charge. These will accept a 2 amp input so charging times may vary if your using an adaptor that’s only putting out 0.5 mAh!I would have liked to see 2 amp wall adaptors added to the package here.Over all I give the construction a # 10 here.Turning on and first use.I will admit I did not read any instructions at first use and powering up and linking both together wirelessly was easy as can be. Unlike some speakers on the market that allow paring of 2 or more, they will still have both left and right channels represented in both speakers but these actually make one speaker a left and one a right. You can tell what one is what by the little white light on top of the speaker right above the “ADD” button. If the one on the left is lit then that’s your left and if the right one is lit then that’s your right speaker.Once you have them paired together one speaker is called a master and the other is the slave for lack of better definition. Each speaker will control the other weather it be changing the lights or the volumeBut the master speaker will power off the other when you power it down. The slave speaker will not do this and it seems to be the only function that the master will do above the functions of the slave. The lights. In the instruction booklet you will find that it says there are 7 colors and this is a misprint. There are only 6 colors that include dark Green, Dark Blue, Red, Light Blue, Yellow, pinkish purple. Please note that if you choose a steady light color and non flashing to the beat of the music your choicesAre only 3. Dark green, Dark Blue and Red. The other 3 colors are only available in the color changing mode that change every 5 seconds. While the music is playing press and hold the “Extra Bass” button to change 3 options, On, Flash to the beat, Off.While in the on or flash to the beat mode you may change the colors by pressing the “Mode” buttonFor about 2 seconds. Once you get to the light blue color, this setting will will let the speaker change to all 6 colors. Note. What ever color changes you make to one speaker, the other speaker will set itself to the exact same pattern. No need to fumble around setting both.Extra Bass. This function allows for an Equalizer setting of a deeper tone that I find to be better at lower volumes. When you have them playing up loud I can’t tell much of a difference but it does take away from the sometimes Tinny sound of the small drivers in the speaker and giving you a deeper feel at lower volumes.A play test.I spent 5 hours inside a 20 foot by 40 foot workshop and played these at full volume on a Android and a Apple phone, switching between the two.Using the Android with added Equalizer settings made these speakers very loud but still clear.I did notice some slight heat buildup on the top of each speaker after a few hours. Apple having had no Equalizer mode selected cut this warming effect to half of what it was with the Android. There is a 20 watt amplifier inside these speakers and if you crank them up for a long time you are going to get some kind of warmth just like you would from an external amplifier like one you may put into a car for instance. There are two 2 inch wide range drivers that have there center cones covered flat all the way out to there rubber flexible rims. This seems to be the norm for speaker drivers of this size.In the center of the two drivers is a rectangular passive radiator as well as one in the back that is used to act as a sort of sub woofer. Using a flashlight and watching both the powered drivers and the bass reflex passive radiators they move quite well and produce very good sound with absolutely no rattling or distortion of any kind at any volume that I can find. Also note that while using the Android, with Equalizer enhancer the last 3 increments of volume increase did not show much of an increase in the volume of the speakers and in fact may have started pushing into the realm of very slight distortion but I am not sure. The next day I spent a few hours outside and set the speakers up and spread them apart about 50 feet. They played flawlessly and filled the area with sound. At a separation of 60 feet and over they stopped pairing correctly and were out of phase at times and it was having a echo effect like being in a large stadium event. Moving them a bit closer together fixed this issue and 60 feet is there limit of separation anyways. “Not an issue” I just thought I would mention how they act when they are past there limit of separation.Charging.Charging is simple and is achieved via use of the supplied USB cable. A very slight warmth may be felt on the bottom center of the speaker while it is charging but this is to be expected. There is a small red light beside the charging hole under the waterproof flap and this light will be red while charging and go off when it’s done. But please note. If your playing them while you are charging them the red light doesn’t seem to go out once fully charged. To see if you truly have a full charge just turn the power to the speaker off, if the light goes off then it is fully charged. Charging time is around 4 hours from a discharged battery so keep that in mind while charging. There is no need to unplug the unit once the battery is fully charged. As with all devices that use lithium batteries they have on board smart charging that shuts off the charging once the battery is full.I might add that the batteries in these speakers are a large 2200 mAh so plenty of play time here while unplugged.I have yet to play these until they go dead but the company boasts up to 12 hours depending.I would guess this to be at half volume. The right here and now. Thus far I give these speakers a 9.7 ratingThe sound for something this size is great. The construction is excellent. The ease of use is excellent. The use of a standard USB cord to charge is Cool. The lighting effects is an excellent plus. The play time is excellent. The IPX5 waterproof rating = IPX-5 offers protection from a 6.3mm spray of water (12.5 liters per minute) in any direction for at least 3 minutes. And these speakers are firmware upgradable * see bottom of this review for update info.My ratings.A minus 0.1 is for the length of the charge cord.I would have liked to see at least a 6 foot cord for these so one might place them on a nightstand or end table and be able to keep them plugged in.A minus 0.2 is given because they did not come with a 2 amp wall plug adapter. I feel this is maybe a wise choice by the company to keep costs down and they feel that people most likely have at least 10 old ones in a drawer someplace saved from old electronics, but what if they don’t? Now your stuck having to go out and buy a charger or two. Maybe they can offer them as an extra through Amazon if you need them. Now the cost factor.Look at what your getting here and I might add that you do yourself a favor and buy 2 of these so you may have the full effect of the linking system. You don’t need to tho as 1 of these is a great performer at a cost of around $50.00 at the time of this review. So for $100.00 “shipped” through Amazon, I think this is an excellent value and quality product and I look forward to the rest of my summer testing them out and enjoying themAs I do not have all the microphones and equipment as some other reviewers do, I’m interested in seeing other reviews on this product in the near future. In addition.Just before the writing of this review I discovered a flaw in the ability for an Android phone to properly cause the lighting to flash to the beat of the music. My work around was to lower the volume of the speaker itself but 5 to 6 clicks lower then the maximum and compensate by turning the Android phones volume up. This made the lighting effect work. This was not an issue while using the Apple phone because adjusting the volume on the speaker actually adjusts the phones volume. While using an Apple product you will also notice that an indicator at the top right of your screen will show a small picture of a set of headphones along with a small Battery indicator showing you the level of battery power that the speaker has left. You don’t have this with Android. My communications with the Doss company kept the employees at work until 11:30 pm on a Friday nightwriting a patch and update to this issue. They got it published and placed on the web for download and instructed me how to do it after providing the link that I am also providing in this review.Just load a micro SD card with the patch file and place the SD card into the slot in the speaker. Then turn on the speaker and let it do it’s own thing. It will find the file and load it and update the firmware all automatically. The two white lights above the “ADD” button will flash slowly 5 times and then you’ll hear a soft click sound and the speaker will then shut off. From there you remove the SD card and repeat the steps in your second speaker if you have 2. Then put the SD card back on your computer and erase the file. If you don’t and you ever go to use this card again within your speakers with it loaded with music, it will first see that update file and try to reload it and end up not playing your music and you’ll not know why. So do the task of deleting the file once you have used it.I have not taken a phone call over these speakers so I cannot comment on its function at this time. This company truly cares about making a quality product that performs well while keeping the price in a place where average people like me can afford. A firmware update is available via Doss but I could not post the link in this review as per Amazon rules.

I’ve been buying DOSS speakers for a couple of years now. I’ve previously had two of the older regular Soundbox and I’ve been able to witness the brand growth and improvement through time, and this is definitely their best rounded product yet. With 20 W of sound power, it delivers enough volume for a big room, without compromising quality. IMO the sound definition does suffer a little bit when enabling the extra bass, but nothing major, and maybe it’s just me that I’m not that much into strong bass and others might actually enjoy it.In regards to aesthetics it looks very cool, definitely better than other speakers in the same price range and better that its same brand predecessor.I find the sound quality in pair with similar sized but a lot higher end options from more expensive brands like JBL, so at this price range, this is a no brainer.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I got 2 of this speakers to try the stereo wireless mode and it’s actually pretty good for such a small device, the lights sync with the beats, and there’s many functions I still didn’t go trough, but so far I’m very happy with the quality.
