I was looking for something slimmer and more comfortable than my fit bit alta. I have a very tiny wrist. The fit bit looked like I had a small remote control strapped on my wrist- the edges are squared. The fit bit was also dim and hard to read. You can adjust the brightness on this, as well as the vibrations. It looks like it has a lot of extra features that I will use- such as a timer, alarms, find your phone, weather. I don’t think my fit bit had all that, if it did I never found it- I bought that one used, so I didn’t have a manual.I have only been wearing my new watch an hour and have not moved off the couch so I don’t have an opinion on the tracking functions yet. So far I like the display and they way it feels. I think it is an improvement over the watch I had.

I’ve been a fan of Fitbit, but with their change to interchangeable wristbands and the fragility of those, I was left to search for a different wrist fitness tracker. I mainly use my watch for sleep tracker since I suck at sleeping. This product does phenomenally except if you’re having a very active sleep night. I also really like the stress tracking on this so I can see how stress work makes me. lolI also prefer the Garmin app layout than the Fitbit one. Watch charges extremely fast and lasts for the suggested time.I really recommend the Garmin Vivosmart 4, I actually went ahead and bought my parents each one of these for Christmas, I know they’ll like it as much as I do.Con: the only one I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t track stairs :/ and there’s no way, that I know of yet, to manually add my stairs in.

I’m at 76 year old woman and I wanted this product to track steps, strenuous activity, heart rate and sleep. Even when I’m huffing and puffing and my heart rate reads 120, it says I’m not doing strenuous activity. I think this needs to be adjusted. I’m also not tech savvy and had trouble – I called and your customer service rep was great! He was very patient and walked me through it step by step. I’m enjoying stepping into the 21st century.

Ok, we have apple watches, other garmin’s, etc. This is good fitness tracking at the price point. It has lots of futures but navigation is not the best which is expected due to screen size. Garmin app in my opinion is easier to navigate than Apple apps required to utilize the device fully. It’s smaller and sleek compared to other garmin devices. So nice for smaller wrists especially females. However, don’t expect this to be a fully functional smart watch. That is not what it is designed to do. Do your research but if this fits what you need you will not be disappointed.

Pros:The App is dynamite. Tracks way more fitness activity than I need. Can be customized to very intensive and interactive (Training, Activities, & Stats).Tracks Sleep, Steps, Heart Rate, Calories, Intensity Minutes, Stress, and VOx/NOx levels.Automatically knows when I’m running, and tells me my per min/mile after on the app.Its a decent fitness tracker with a slim profile, and low price point. There are better ones out there for sure, but I like this style. No GPS.Cons: Will track any arm motion as steps. Wash the car, get steps. Rake leaves, sweep floors, trim hedges, or work with your hands…… Then it may register that motion as a step based activity.

UPDATE OCT 01 2018 – GPS City, the seller sent me, the shipping label that Amazon would not. Thank you GPS City! Now that I have a size a large I am able to finally use this. First let me say that even the large is not sized as Garmin states. However, it should be large enough for up to 8″ wrists. Second, this thing rocks. I owned the very first Vivosmart and wore it until it died. The VS2 and the VS3 were much wider and uglier than the original and I abandoned the entire wrist worn activity tracker altogether. The VS4 is the same size as the VS1. It is as wide a typical Livestrong band. The features are simply awesome. In particular the Sleep Tracking and Pulse Ox are the highlights. I can see how well I am sleeping at night and how much oxygen is in my blood. As of now, I only have three nights of data, but two of them show a pattern of poor sleep and a solitary and short drop in SpO2 below 90% each night. It isn’t low enough or long enough to suggest sleep apnea, but it is something I want to monitor – as I rarely feel refreshed in the AM. As usual, the notifications and vibrating alarm are stellar. Even the step/stair counts have been spot on for me. My only complaint is that the main screen is limited. I would love to see a home screen that had Time, Heart Rate, and maybe Steps, but I would settle for just the first two. If you ask me, this should have been the successor to the original Vivosmart.I have 185mm wrist and this won’t fit, despite what Garmin says. Garmin says the small/medium will fit wrists that are 122 to 188mm in circumference. This is false. As you can see in my photo, the whole strap is just shy of 190mm long. The last hole is at 180mm, which 8mm less than the wrists Garmin says it should fit – and 2mm shorter than it needs to be in order for the excess to fit the 10mm long clasp. I am not sure who at Garmin took the measurements, but they apparently didn’t consider that the last hole is unusable, as is the second to last. since it isn’t long enough for the clasp to be secure.. At best, this will fit a wrist 175mm or so. The bummer is I tried to return this, but Amazon expects me to pay for the shipping, despite the product not working as stated. This is Garmin’s fault, not mine.

The watch is slim and has taken a few hits without a scratch. The minimalist UI takes some reading to understand, but you can learn it in 10 minutes. The app connects to the hardware like lightning… so much better than fussy FitBit and Polar’s inconsistent failures.I wish there were more watch face customization options. The day and date are excessively abbreviated to fit. Tuesday June 15, 2021 displays as “T15”. Could be Tuesday or Thursday, and all you know is the day is the 15th. Everyone always knows the month… right? If you manually start an exercise mode, it does not detect automatically when you’ve stopped. If you don’t stop it yourself, it’ll count indefinitely and throw off your stats… unless you discard the session at the end when you realize it’s still going way past. The auto-detect only seems to start on its own for walking and running. (After 1 min or 5 min respectively.)Accuracy matches my best Polar, and lasts 2.5x as long on a full charge. The Pulse Ox is a nice plus, but it does drain more battery. The charger is a little weird to get used to, but it works well and is nicely compact (not nearly as small as Polar’s, but at least it can reach further with its cable; the entire thing is a third the size of FitBit’s hideous cradle). The band’s rubber (silicone?) irritates my skin less than Polar’s band, and it has a traditional clasp instead of those stretch and snap nubs that Apple and Polar use. Unfortunately, the band isn’t swappable, but that does make the most efficient use of space and angles.

I’ve had it now for about 2 months. I came from a Fitbit Alta and jumped ship to this when they wanted to charge me to get my data. This is a whole new experience and I’m really happy with it.The heart rate monitor is more accurate than my old Fitbit and the tracking of it during sleep is amazing – you can click on the graph at any point it tells you what you pulse is at that point.I’ve counted my steps for several hundred and this one only 1 step off. Seriously impressed by that! The ‘floors climbed’ is however not accurate… I seem to go up a lot less floors than I go down, despite ending the day in the same room lol.The mobile app is OK… I had a LOT of trouble trying to connect it to the device – had to get help – now it’s connected though it tells me everything I want, which is great. The biggest issue I had was I couldn’t see a battery life indicator anywhere, which meant I’d wake up in the morning to a screen telling me it needed charging and no data for the night. If you go to the home screen on the device and press and hold, that gets you to the battery indicator! (Had to google that as it’s not in the instructions)I’m still getting use to the battery life though. It seems to go from 2 bars to dead very fast, but it’s about 5 days between charges at the moment.I love that I can set a ‘sleep’ time frame and it doesn’t buzz and wake me up telling me to move. I haven’t worked out how to stop it buzzing during the day yet, which is annoying, but I’ve got it down to the lowest level for buzzing at least.I was hoping the body battery would be a little better, but it’s not overly useful. Still, while that would have been awesome, it’s not the reason I bought it, so it’s not too big of a deal.Overall, I recommend it and I’m never going back to Fitbit after this.

I had a Fitbit inspire hr before. (Loved it until it dies on me after a year…) I think Fitbit is more intuitive to use right off the box. Garmin might require you to look up what each icon means. Not the deal breaker, but just a bit extra work at the beginning. However, I love more data I can get from Garmin tho. (Also a whole lot less of marketing email and ads is a plus)

This is my third tracking device. I started with the original Garmin Vivofit 1. I loved it because it was waterproof, never had to be charged, and the display could be read in full sunlight. I wanted more features and moved to a Fitbit Alta HR. I loved the new features and the sleek look and got used to having to charge it but I could not live with the fact that it was not waterproof at all and the display could not be seen at all outdoors even when shielding it from sunlight with your other hand. Then the new Garmin Vivosmart 4 was introduced. It solved all my problems. The charge lasts for 3 to 4 days even though I wear it 24/7. I only take it off when it needs to be charged and charge it while in the shower and dressing. It fully charges in an hour so I am good to go for 4 more days. The steps, HR and pulse ox seem to be very accurate which is a great surprise. The display can be seen outdoors and it is waterproof. I use the vibrating alarm so that I do not disturb anyone around me and the vibrate is strong enough to wake me from sleep. I am a light sleeper however so take that into consideration. The only drawback is that the band is not interchangeable like my other 2 trackers were. But on the positive side the band is black which goes with everything and I am not spending extra money on new colored bands. I highly recommend this tracker. I would suggest that you order an extra charger or two. I crushed mine about a month after I got it and ordered 2 more through Amazon for $19.95. I got the tracker for $99.95 😀
