I’m not sure why everyone has such tough reviews of this product. I purchased a FitBit and this and returned the FitBit to keep this one. So far, I love it and wouldn’t wish for anything else!Cons:- The strap runs a little small – if you’re on the border, consider sizing up if you like the excess strap to run through the ring- Not super easy to navigate the start-up process and configure your settings – but online resources help a lot- Not able to log naps or unusual sleep patterns- Not replaceable strap- Some note glass front isn’t strong – I bought a screen cover and haven’t had problems- Not a fancy smart watch (like the Apple Watch, but great for me)Pros:- Waterproof (really nice for an active lifestyle and little kids)- Great battery life (I charge every 5-7 days)- Accurate sleep and heart rate tracking- Small, comfortable watch face (I had trouble with some larger options)- GPS tracking (great for stroller walks)

This tracker is great. Waterproof, GPS, and color screen in a package this small is pretty impressive. Heart rate works great for me regardless of type of exercise and updates in real time (about once per second), and the thin profile and no buttons on the side make it easy to wear for any activity. Heart rate works significantly better than the Pebble Sport I had before. Screen can be easily read in direct sunlight which is great. The app is great and gives you lots of info. Direct sync to MyFitnessPal for calories is a good touch.Cons: – Charger is plug in type and recessed. I can see this connector possibly wearing out or getting full of dust/gunk. So far ok but a magnetic flat connector would have been way better. – Screen is low resolution and not very good quality (colors are dull, contrast not that good). I personally think the fact that it can be read in direct sunlight makes up for this, but might bother the more fashion conscious. – There’s been a couple times when it failed to sync activity to the Garmin Connect app for a couple hours, but issue resolved itself eventually. – No buttons is great on a fitness-oriented tracker but means entire interface is touch. Works well for the most part but the “double tap” gesture is unreliable and I end up having to try a couple times.

For the past two years I have been using the Samsung Gear Fit2 health and fitness tracker because it integrates seamlessly with Samsung Health on my Samsung phone, and it does pretty much everything I want a tracker to do. However, recently it has been inconsistent in tracking my heart rate and the GPS sometimes fails. So I decided to give the Garmin Vivosport a try because I have used Garmin products in the past, mostly for running. It does take a little while for the Vivosport GPS to find satellites, but I think that is simply mostly a function of where I live. Locating satellites improves the more I search for them in the same area. So, now it picks up a signal within 15-20 seconds, but when I took a trip out to Montana and Wyoming it had to relearn satellites. The heart rate function is fantastic so far, running continuously and accurately as far as I can tell. And the sleep data is so much better than what Samsung provides. The tracker is great for recording walks, runs, and bike rides. Sadly, unlike my Samsung tracker, it has no dedicated app for yoga, which I do every morning, so I need to edit the activity with Garmin connect after each yoga session, renaming and reclassifying it from “other.”That is a general complaint I have, not only with this tracker, but with all trackers, that there is no provision for downloading the specific activities I do most often onto the tracker. Neither my Samsung nor this Garmin tracker allows me to place a basketball app on my tracker, which is a bother because I play basketball several times a week. I’ve seen requests to add Basketball to at least Garmin connect, if not the tracker itself, dating back 5 years. But no response. How hard could that be to program? What are the company’s paid programmers doing that is more important than responding to reasonable requests from users?All-in-all, though, I have been very happy with the Garmin Vivosport. It does the job. The display is small but clear and easy to read and operate with tapping. The Garmin Connect companion app is much better than Samsung Health. Because I have accumulated so much data with the latter, I had to find ways to transfer information from Connect to SH, but it is possible to do this. Until Samsung comes up with a better tracker (this year’s new model was actually a downgrade from previous models), I will be using the Garmin.

I’ve had this for a few months now, and as long as I adjust my expectations (i.e. it is not going to be 100% accurate all the time) it is helping me in the ways I had hoped it would. It gets me to take the dog for an extra long walk if my step count for the day is abysmal, it does actually successfully remind me to move, and it tracks my jogging and my workouts well for the most part. And it’s a watch. And a smart one too.My biggest complaints about it are that it is not that accurate at stairs, and it seems to be confused by elliptical type machines. I have an ARC, and the calorie and step counts from the ARC diverge from garmin’s interpretation of events pretty wildly. Also it’s interpretation of my VO2 has me at the fitness equivalent of a 79 year old, which is a bit insulting. The down side of being a chill being.Having said that, it has been my super ego in a successful attempt to lose winter weight and then to break through a 10 year old “set point” in my weight, finally. And is helping me get back into running, which I appreciate. Works for me.

I absolutely LOVE this fitness watch!! I always check the sleep tracker, which shows a breakdown of the types of sleep, and have found it to be very accurate. It automatically tracks my daily steps and stairs (though sometimes it does fail to count my stairs). I have to start it specially for a hike or bike ride, and hate it when I forget to start it. What I love most is the tracking of those hikes or bike rides. When you get into the phone to look at the activity, it gives an amazing amount of detail including time, distance, and calories burned. Then you can get into another screen which breaks down details, including elevation gain, maximum & minimum heart rate, among many other items. But my absolute favorite is to click on the MAP on the first screen. Then when you hit the “layers” symbol, you can add SATELLITE to the map. This was especially amazing when we were in southern Utah this September, and we could see the satellite image overlaying the rides or hikes that we took!! The smartphone app also includes a calendar so you can go back to any day in the past and see what you did that day. I got this watch in mid December 2017 and I have records all the way back to when I first got the watch!! The keeper for the band broke early on, but I replaced it with a black O ring which has worked fine. I don’t know what will happen when the watch or band finally fails!

I’ve had it for a little over a week and was concerned about accuracy compared to my Fitbit One. Turns out the step count is very close. I thought having it on my wrist as opposed to clipping it to my bra would produce extra steps. After all I move my hands more than I move my feet sometimes. But this has not been the case. When you are talking about thousands of steps, +/- 50 is not a big deal, and it’s usually closer than that. I’m still working on mastering the features, but so far, I am very satisfied. Love the time, temperature, notifications from texts, email, Facebook and Instagram, find my phone capability, calories burned count, stress level, heart rate, flights of stairs climbed, and the way I can start and stop my music. Overall good purchase.

Love the features and look of this tracker. I went from a Garmin Forerunner 405CX after it became unsupported, to a Fitbit Surge. Features on the Surge stopped working within a couple of months after purchase. It wouldn’t stay connected to the app or to my phone. Finally became so fed up with it that I bought the Vivosport less than a year later. So glad I did. I’m also REALLY glad I found a YouTube video that explained how to use it really clearly. My only complaint with Garmin is that the instruction they provided left me in the dark on how use this tracker. If I hadn’t found this independent video, I might have returned it. Now I’m able to track my runs again and save them in my Garmin Connect account, review my stats, monitor my heart rate, set goals and reminders, receive notifications from my phone…love it!

1. Gps takes a long time to connect. But once its connected it stays conected.2. App is not very detailed. For example doesn’t give amount of steps for an activity such as walking workout. Doesn’t break down active minutes for past days. Only weekly. But it is very easy to navigate and very intuitive.3. Graphs are glitchy. Shows a graph for resting heart rate wanted to see when my max heart rate for the day occurred. According to graph it happened a time in the future. Said around 11 pm sometime. when it wasn’t even 9 pm yet. Most History information is only in graphs. but you can’t click on them to get exact numbers or a daily breakdown for past days. UPDATE: after wearing watch for 24 hours this corrects itself.3. intesity minutes are garmins version of fitbits active minutes. But it seems to always be a real low number. I’ll get about 30 mins of intensity time on garmin. Fitbit will say 120 mins of active time. Not sure how they do things differently, its possible this is a better metric then fitbits.4. They show resting calories. Which can be a little confusing for those only use to seeing active calories burned.5. Steps are very accurate. gps distance, elevation very accurate. so is stairs counted. But flights have to be over 10 feet Garmin explains the calculation.6. Sleep tracking is the best i’ve seen on this. better then fitbit. Most other devices never know when you get up in the night or go back to sleep after a along wake. This device has no problems showing all awake times even if only for a copule minutes. show deep, light, rem, and wake times.7. touch screen is extremely responsive.only negative about this thing is it doesn’t have changeable straps. which is why i can’t give i 5 stars.

My last fitness watch, a Vivosmart HR finally broke after much use and abuse, so I bought the Vivosport as a smaller replacement. And what a great price for a watch with gps! Not only does it do everything the old watch did, it does even more, like track rem sleep, and stress level. Although the face is smaller with less info on it, it is much, much better that my old one. I can easily read it without my reading glasses, it is far brighter, and is super easy to access info like heart rate, steps, and everything else. It took a few minutes to find a gps signal when I first turned it on, but ever since it connects almost instantly. I love how much smaller it is as I’m not into big, thick watches. I can hardly tell it’s on my wrist it is so light. Also, it works great in the pool. Lastly, the battery life is excellent, lasting several days even when using gps for runs/walks. I don’t understand how anyone could spend so much more for an Apple Watch when the battery doesn’t even last a full day. Love almost everything about it so far! Update: I don’t understand some of the reviews that claim they had issues with the band. I am pretty rough on these things and take it off daily yet have had zero problems with the band cracking or breaking. If you treat it normally, it should last for years from what I see.

The vivosport has a very readable watch face and scrolling/tapping through features is pretty intuitive. The face gets very bright in sunlight, so I have not had any issues seeing the screen outdoors. The feature I wanted most was for running intervals and you can customize the walk/run times so it vibrates to indicate walk/run times. The only issue I have had was that I could not get the music widget to work with my default android music player on my Samsung Galaxy 4, so I installed Blackplayer and that worked immediately. The widget is great for pausing/forward functions for music (via headphones from your phone) so you don’t have to dig out your phone out if you have in stowed away. The watch has a lot of other features that I really like like, such as being able to find your phone using your watch, or your watch using your phone. Overall, I am very pleased with the watch. I previously had a fitbit charge and I prefer this watch over that one “hands” down!
