I travel a lot for business and I have this speaker dual homed to my laptop (via USB) and cell phone (via Bluetooth), and it works great as a portable speaker phone for travel. I’ve tested it on both Skype for Business calls and Cisco Jabber calls, and the sound quality is amazing. In comparison to my PC, iPhone 7+ and my Microsoft HD webcam mic, this product has the best microphone sensitivity and background white noise cancellation. Very happy with the purchase.Update: July 2018Nearly a year after this was purchased and initially reviewed, it is still performing at the same excellent level as when I bought it. Since the original review last summer, I’ve probably made 100+ hours of conference calls on it via USB cable and it is also my go-to speaker in my home office when I’m having issues with call quality on a desk phone, or when my headset battery dies. I’ve successfully used this speaker on a recent model IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad, HP Elitebook, and a Dell Latitude business-grade laptop model. The speaker has performed flawlessly on all of them. Last month I had to take a call in a network room where the speaker was literally placed 12″ away from a Cisco 3750 switch, and the conference participants couldn’t hear the background fan noise from the switch. I’d say the background noise cancellation is probably the best I’ve ever experienced from any Speakerphone model. If I could rate this item 6/5 stars, I would.

I don’t give many 5 star reviews but this one is just the bees-knees for sound quality, functionality and ease of use. In fact I’d take this to work and use my cell phone instead of the speakerphone on the ubiquitous IP phones which are ever so present in offices today. Let’s face it, we all don’t want to spend several Benjamins or into the 4 figures for the commercial Polycoms but we also don’t want something that lasts less than a couple years. I’ve bought the Anker brands and other affordable versions of speakerphones but they are fragile, lack a decent dynamic range and sometimes come with awkward controls or poor bluetooth connectivity (e.g. Bluetooth ver2.0).Enter the Jabra Speak 510.This puppy is not only sized small enough to easily toss into your computer bag but it even comes with it’s own custom padded neoprene case. The cable for charging neatly tucks away underneath the unit with even enough forethought by the designers to ensure that the USB connector can “click” into place without awkward tabs, etc. This means you don’t have to worry if you forgot your micro/mini/A/B/C USB or proprietary power cable. But even if you did, I’ve gotten several hours of conference calls with this workhorse. I’ve used it at least 6-7 hours per week without a recharge. The controls are capacitive touch and the LEDs are multicolored and easy to understand without any instructions. Hit the battery button and you’ll get a red (or all greens when fully charged) fuel gauge style meter. The LEDs show a white meter for Volume level. A Blue LED for… you guessed it, Bluetooth connectivity. And of course it allows for direct connectivity via 3.5mm phone jack if Bluetooth is unavailable. If I could only gripe about one thing? it’s that the mic is located on a single position along the rim so for those sitting on the opposite side of a table their voice may not be picked up so well. But at the price point Jabra sells this at it’s most certainly not a show stopper especially since the only other way to solve that is to turn it into a spider phone at which the cost is no longer within reach of your average consumer. Now, if I can only find a bluetooth headset which ranks just as highly as this speakerphone. 🙂

I have had good luck with the performance and sound quality of two Jabra 710 units running in linked mode and placed in the center of a large U-shaped table configuration in a large conference room space. The microphone pickup quality of the units is able to capture the discussion of participants at the table, and also of the presenter standing at the front of the room giving a presentation. Participants do sound more “distant” the further away from the units they happen to be sitting, but are still quite audible and clear. Sounding distant doesn’t matter to my use case, but sounding clear matters a whole lot. In the configuration that I use, I also equip the person presenting with a stick microphone connected to speakers in the ceiling of this particular conference room, so that the presenter’s voice is amplified even more, and the Jabra 710 units pick this up well. But even without this extra step, the people dialing in are able to hear the presenter clearly. As to the clarity and volume of the speaker output of these Jabra 710 units, those of us sitting in the room are very easily able to hear clearly the voices of those who have dialed in, to the degree that the speakers on these units are better sounding than on most of the in-room table top phones more commonly found in smaller conference rooms. I also recommend ensuring that the units are placed at a “table top” level that is planar to the table height of the table at which your meeting participants will be sitting.

I’m writing this review so that others might learn from my experience. I got a pair of these and they were easy to setup and relatively intuitive. Unfortunately my voice was faint over calls. I was going to return them until I decided to see if there was a firmware upgrade possible for these units. Turns out after installing the Jabra Direct software my units (and the dongles) had firmware updates available. After the firmware update, the units worked perfectly.Once the units were upgraded I found them easy to use whether I was using the wired USB, the USB dongle or Bluetooth. They work well up to 10′ apart and have been a great tool to use in a conference room. While the price is prohibitive, if you need wireless conferencing with two microphones, this is a pretty good way to go.

I am in a new role at work and have found myself traveling around the country for in-person meetings, with others participating by phone. The problem is that these meetings often occur in rooms without speakerphones, like break rooms, waiting rooms, or other areas not intended for meetings. Since the speakerphones on cell phones are okay, but not effective for this type of scenario, I looked around for a potential solution and found the Jabra Speak510. I ordered it from Amazon Prime on a Friday evening, and it was delivered on Sunday (I didn’t even know that they did that). I paired it with my mobile phone, and plugged it in to charge it up. I was pleased that it comes with a protective case (wet-suit type material) so I just throw it into my briefcase and don’t need to worry about it. All of the “buttons” use touch sensors. Aside from the “on/off” sensor, the unit provides visual indication of the sound and remaining charge levels, and allows you to adjust both by touch on the unit vs. having to do so at the phone. So, with that said, how does it work? This thing is fantastic! The sound quality is very clear with no echo or distortion of any kind. In the very first meeting, we were in a break room and more people attended than anticipated. I was positioned 10-12 feet from the unit. At one point I asked a question of a participant on the phone and he was able to hear me clearly and respond. The unit is round and has omni-directional microphones, so people in the room can be heard clearly by people on the phone regardless where they are seated in the room. Frankly, I would take this unit over almost any speakerphone or conference phone that I have used in any conference room. In fact, my whole team now has them, as well as several folks from one of our partner companies that attended some meetings where this device was used. I have now participated both as a presenter in the room with the unit, and as a remote participant. The sound quality is superb in both cases.Disclaimers:1) I have not yet used it in a situation where there is a lot of ambient noise, so I cannot speak to the noise blocking capability. However, I do not hear any noise while participating remotely where there is a room of people with the unit, so I am hopeful that it will do the job if/when I am in that situation.2) Clearly, it requires that there is a reasonable cell signal available. So far, I have been lucky and have had a good signal in every meeting.

As a consultant, I’m always on my mobile phone in meetings. But sometimes, in those long conference calls, you really need the mute/unmute control and the assurance that you are (or aren’t!!) muted. This little speaker has completely erased my fumbling with my phone to unmute myself when I’m asked a question and gives me peace of mind when I have to multitask. Lights are clear and easy to understand, setup was almost instant. Padded zip case makes it very easy to slip into a bag. And if you need privacy (but still want the great mute/unmute visibility) there’s a headphone out. I love this little thing!

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  **I just bougth a Jabra Speak 750 and it is worth the extra price from the 710. It is full duplex and you can have a 2 way conversation. The 510 and 710 are half duplex and only 1 person can talk at a time. Overall, I would highly recommend the 750 since it’s full duplex and everyone can talk at the same time. The Good:-Great microphone quality-Good music playback-Incredbly easy set up-Long battery life-Portable-Comes with case-Kickstand-Professional styling-Built in charging cable-Firmware updatable through Jabra Direct on Windows and MacThe Bad:-Price is more than the Jabra Speak 510 but better quality sound and microphoneThe Bottom Line:I own both the Jabra Speak 510 and the Jabra 710. While I really like the Jabra Speak 510, I love the 710. The 2 main reasons are the better microphone and music playback. In terms of microphone, I have had conference calls with 6 people and the 710 handles it fine but the 510 really does have a tougher time finding the extra voices. I have also tested the pairing of two Jabra 710s and had a conference for 10 people. It worked great! The music playback is very good except for bass heavy stuff. Classical and jazz sound great on the device and when you pair 2 together the stereo effect is phenomenal (the built in kickstand also helps with music playback) In terms of set up, both the 510 and 710 are super simple as you just connect via Bluetooth. Charging the device is easy through the built in USB cable and it takes about 3 hours to charge. I’ve easily been on 6 hours worth of conference calls and still had half a charge. In terms of styling the 710 looks more sleek than the 510. The speakerphone comes with a case and the device is very portable. The firmware is also updatable through Jabra direct on Windows or Mac. Overall if you’re a road warrior or need a speakerphone at any moment, this is the speakerphone to get hands down!*If you found my review helpful, please let Amazon know by clicking the helpful button below!

I read lots of reviews for the many usb/computer speakerphones and narrowed down to three. There were so many conflicting reviews it was hard to choose! I just wanted THE best one that works well.I ended up ordering and testing these three:- Polycom CX100- Jabra 410- Plantronics Calisto P420I then hooked all three up to my computer…place a skype call to someone in another room in our office and one by one switched the audio devices in skype.Polycom devices didn’t have enough volume and had more background noise.Plantronics device was overall good, loud and clear..though the buttons were a bit confusing for volume and other controls not so intuitive (overall better than polycom device)The Jabra was mine and other office mates pick for best one. It was very loud, audio was clear eliminating background sounds and has cool intuitive controls. Aside from the audio quality I like the touch buttons for controls that are sensitive and the lights that change on the device to show status. Overall this is the one I kept and would recommend it to anyone over the others I tested.

I work from home. Because of this I have a lot of conference calls. I tested this with my colleague the other day and was comfortably able to pace at around 8 feet away and still be heard fine on the other end. The touch screen buttons for volume, mute, end call etc all work flawlessly with my windows computer using Skype for business (formerly Lync). The lights that surround it to show if you are muted and battery levels as well as volume are also a wonderful feature. Over time this thing will more than be worth the investment. I haven’t tried Bluetooth connections as I don’t have much use but don’t know why it wouldn’t be a nice additional feature. Very happy.**if you found this review helpful please mark the review appropriately:) thank you!

I’ve had the Jabra 510 for over a year and wrote up a detailed review on its excellent performance. I recently had a need to purchase a second speaker and went with the 710 this time around in attempts to dual-purpose it for playing music when I’m on the road. The 710 has performed 5 stars as a bluetooth/USB microphone/speaker for phone calls, and is a little better on music playback. I’ve tested it as a USB speaker for a windows 10 laptop, and a bluetooth speaker for both an Android V30 and iPhoneX phone models. The things I like better about the 710 over the 510 is:- the sound quality on music playback- the built-in kick stand for angling it upright towards the listener- the USB dongle that I can plug into my laptop as a wireless alternative to the attached USB cableIn either instance, the 510 or the 710 are fantastic Bluetooth/USB speaker options for the traveling user. The only constructive feedback I’ll give the manufacturer is include a hard-shell case for both speaker options so that they are better protected when thrown around in a laptop bag during frequent business travel.
