This lens was surprisingly very good. I thought it just be a fun lens to see things far away. Turns out I can actually use it on short film or creative project. I tested it with my old canon 60d and it was really good. Am only waiting on my bmpcc 6k to arrive and I know I can get an even better result due to the dynamic range and resolution. Am impressed.

I got this lens for Christmas. I have literally just mounted the lens on my Canon DSLR camera. I was worried it was going to be difficult, but it was VERY easy to add the adapter and mount the lens to my camera. I then set my camera to Manual, ISO 400, 1/1000. The third picture shown was taken with my cell phone and shows the actual distance of the house in the pic from my front yard (see where arrow is pointing). The first picture shown is of the house with the lens at 800mm, NO TRIPOD. The second picture I took was 800mm WITH TRIPOD. Please understand that I just got this lens and it is new to me. These are the first pics I took with the lens and it was VERY EASY! I can’t wait to set it up for more distance pics. I am a total amateur and I didn’t want to put a lot of extra cash into a hobby, so this lens is going to be perfect for my needs.

What I Think –
When I bought this lens I did have a realistic expectation that it wasn’t just like a regular lens with automatic focus or image stabilization that you could just point and shoot. This lens is full manual, which means photography skills need to be applied here such as knowing how to adjust shutter speed to achieve best exposure. I’m just a photography enthusiast, so this lens is part learning and part helping me to sharpen my skills. The lens itself is not as bulky as I first thought, kind of slender actually. It seems well built, except I feel the tripod mount and T2 ring could use a better paint job. In terms of picture quality, this really depends on skills as much as equipment when it comes to manual lenses. On a clear and sunny day, the picture quality is very good when used with the tripod and even better with a wireless remote. Moreover, I tend to do post-processing with all of my pictures anyway. And this really improves its quality further. However, this lens struggles in low light environment such as indoor as expected. I’ll probably never going to use this indoor anyway, except maybe in well-lit stadium, so it’s not a deal breaker for me as I have much better lenses for that purpose. One thing I would advise with this lens is to make sure the zoom lock ring is tightened enough so that when you use the focus ring to put object in focus, the lens doesn’t rotate as well. Otherwise, you’ll never get a good focus on the object. Overall, I’m quite content with this lens so far. I think the affordability and capability of this lens gives it so much potential, especially when in the hand of a skilled photographer.
