Mediocre battery life, Amazon gaming rig for way cheaper than what I had to spend for my old gaming laptop around 6 years ago now which was 1000 dollars for an Asus Rog that had a older gen I7 cpu 4 cores and 8 threads and an gtx 960m 2gb vram graphics card. This thing not only has a way faster cpu clock rate plus turbo boost and more threads and cores for it but it also has 4gb of vram which is a minimum requirement nowadays to play higher end games but it has a fhd 1920×1080 beautiful screen that I am able to see what I am looking at way better than my older gaming laptop plus the pixels look way better and makes everything look more beautiful. I can not believe that these gaming laptops are so cheap nowadays but I am super happy that it is and it has made my day. 🙂 P.S. I bought 8gb more ram and 500gb Samsung 980 evo nvme ssd and I bought thermal pad to keep the temperatures down so it won’t reduce the speeds while it is running and laid it on the nvme ssd and held it on so it won’t ever fall off in the case with twisting twisty ties by going underneath and tie it off at the top and press it down on top the thermal pad and then use scissors to cut off the long excess of the end of the tie that was not needed if any. Lastly for the sound I installed Viper4Windows a free audio program to improve the built in sound quality since the Realtek sounded worse than my dragonfly DAC and it made it sound better than my dragonfly usb DAC after a minor amount of tweaking it’s audio settings.

The Lenovo IdeaPad gaming laptop (built for gamers and creators) is an impressive gaming laptop for a reasonable price. It’s can handle new or retro PC games with smooth performance, no noticeable lag. It has a sleek matte design and curved edges on the cover. The battery life doesn’t last the longest, roughly 5 hours after a full charge, and the camera quality is okay. Battery life strongly depends on the types of programs you are running, or if you have multiple programs running at the same time. This laptop really impresses in terms of performance though. It runs quiet, produces nice sound quality and has a 120Hz refresh rate. For the price you pay and quality of this laptop I can strongly recommend it.

This laptop combines the capable and proven Nvidia GTX 1650 (apr 2019) with the modern and efficient AMD Ryzen 5600H. The 5600H facilitates efficient on the go browsing from the undersized battery, while the GTX1650 delivers an affordable gaming performance. For the relatively low price, specs are not very high but both RAM and storage can be upgraded. With this laptop Lenovo has given up on endurance, choosing instead to provide lower cost and lighter weight with quite a small battery.System: The Windows 10 laptop does not come with much bloatware. It includes a 30 day trial of McAfee LiveSafe. Another included utility, Lenovo Vantage, is necessary for operating the computer.Keyboard: Lenovo has opted for a 96% keyboard with numpad, which is sure to please users who like having a full size keyboard with a separate numpad. The keyboard is backlit with a white backlight which is nice and visible, but a bit less eye friendly than red. While many laptops treat function keys (F1… F2 etc) as secondary to media keys (volume up… brightness up) and require Fn to activate function keys, here the Function keys require holding down fn to activate media keys, which is the more traditional control scheme.Monitor: This laptop uses a 1080p, 120hz matte screen which provides for silky smooth gaming as long as you turn the settings down a bit. 120hz is not quite the 144hz we see in many monitors but it is the double of the standard 60hz. The matte finish performs decently well in bright environments. The difference between maximum and minimum brightness seems to be around 2-4W of power, and the screen automatically turns off at the lowest brightness when using the brightness adjusting hotkey. Interestingly, the brightness media keys do not support press and hold (you have to lift then press for each notch to make large adjustments to brightness), but the volume keys do support press and hold. The Lenovo Vantage software allows tuning the fan speed to maximize cooling and laptop performance, as well as limiting charge to 55%-60% to increase battery longevity. Since this laptop is likely to be plugged in most of the time, enabling this feature is highly recommended. In terms of power, this laptop can consume as much as 128W when plugged in with GPU/CPU pushed to maximum performance and screen brightness set to maximum. The laptop will consume a hair more than 135W on the 135W power brick if high powered peripherals are connected. Like all laptops, good ventilation is recommended to prevent overheating when doing high performance tasks like playing a game, at the very least propping up one end of the laptop with a pen.The battery is labelled as 44Wh, has a “design capacity” of 45Wh and my particular battery has an “actual capacity” of 46.38Wh, according to Lenovo Vantage. The battery is capable of charging and discharging at 80 watts, which is quite a high performance for such a small battery. Pushing the battery to the limit like this no doubt reduces longevity. If you want to game at max performance on battery power, going from 100% to 20% takes less than 40 minutes from a full charge. If you want to stream videos at medium brightness, the laptop will last longer, more than 2 hours. This laptop is meant to be plugged in, but you can only plug it into Lenovo’s weird rectangular DC charger. There is a type C port but while some laptops support type C charging (which opens up the possibility of extending endurance from a common power bank), this laptop does not support charging from its type C port.In terms of upgradability, the back panel can be removed with screwdriver and prying tool, revealing an additional M.2 SSD port, and pins for a hard disk next to it. Accessing the RAM requires lifting up the side of the metal RAM cover, then shifting it to remove: there is 1 unused RAM slot.As a side note, I accidentally dropped mine from a height of 3 inches, screen first, and scratched the paint (my fault). There was no functional damage, although the lid was scratched on the outside, so consider this a data point in an unintentional drop test.

My computer arrived. I like the shadow black color of thecasing. I like the even color of it. I like that even thoughthe casing is plastic it feels like a good quality plastic and does not feel cheap.I like the shape of the laptop. I like it has curved edges.I connected quickly to my wifi with no problems.I found the sound clear and crisp. I like that when I addedmy headphones it was much louder in sound.I like that the audio gives me a high definition sound and optimizesmy audio experience. I like I can go into the settings and change thingsaround for different sound experience depending on the gameI am playing.I heard no distortion in the sound.I found the key board to be quite comfortablefeeling on my fingers. I could type well andcould play games well on it. Me moving from key to keywas not a problem and the response time was fast. I like that it isone of the most smoothest keyboards I have ever used. I like the curved keys.I like the keyboard light color. I found that even though there is just onelight color you can dim it or turn it to high light.I found the brightness of keyboard lights pleasantly visual.I like it could handle the faster playing games.I like the anti-glare screen. I found it to work well.I found the refresh rate good. I only had minor lag and thatwas a really high data fast playing game. I also was on wifi and not Ethernetso that could be the reason. Though I did test Ethernet I did not do so while gaming.I like that it has AMD Ryzen 5600 H with it’s 6 cores.I like being a Nvidia owner already that it has Nvidia GeForcebuilt in to the gaming computer helping it to run smoothly.I like the memory that it has built in. I found it of adequate sizefor the money and of the same size as my other gaming computer.I like that it has 256GB M.2 PCLe SSD storage, meaning it runsat a faster pace than my sata drive computer does. I also like itcame with all material, casing, cables etc., (except the extra SSD) to addanother ssd for more memory.I like the 8 gb DDR4 ram since it helps me play larger heavy datagames and the DDR stands for double data rate for anyone whodoesn’t know.I like that the weight of it is not as heavy as mostof the gaming laptops. I found it just a touch lighter thanmy other one of a different brand. It is easier to carry from place to place.I connected to Bluetooth 5.0 with no problems.I like that the Ethernet port worked well and fast downloading the games.I connected to the 65” big screen with a 4k HDMI and the picturewas crystal clear.I liked the webcam worked well at 720p HD.I very much like the privacy shutter. No more tape on the computercamera. I think everyone did that before a shutter.I found the micro phone to be clear to the person on theother side. No distortions in my voice.I liked the touch pad. I found it to work well, fast and be responsiveto my touch.I found the USB ports to work well also. I am not sure why thereis just two but I can add a external port expander cheaply if I need too.I found the headphone jack to work very well.I found the C plug to work well to connect my phone.I like the operating system that comes on the computeras well for normal everyday working and browsing the web.I like that I could open 50 tabs (I stopped there) and I had no problemswitching back and forth between all 50 tabs. At 50 I got a small amountof lag that’s it. I don’t really know if anyone would need to openthat many tabs at once or not but I found this machine can handlethat if anyone is looking for that type of capability.I like it has a 135 watt power brick and it charges pretty fast.I like the Lenovo Vantage which monitors cpu usage, aide storage and checks my hardware.I like the Lenovo migration assistant that moved my files from my oldcomputer fast with out cables.I like that the battery life seemed to be pretty good. I am thinking it was 5 hours.I like that this is a mid priced gaming and home computerwith pretty fast speeds.I found the price comparable to other mid sized gaming computerswith out as much power as this one has.I have enclosed pictures so you can make a informeddecision based on your own personal needs.Yes I would recommend this product.

For sure this is the more affordable, easily upgradeable gaming laptop in the market this year. Not only for the cost ($660) but for the improvements you can do. The keyboard is rock solid; the 120 Hz display is awesome, the heat dissipation is very good, despite that the laptop heats significantly when is working hard or gaming. But, in general, the build is much better than other brands in the same price range. In fact, right now is $100 or less than other laptops with the same hardware or worse. The first picture shows the interior of the laptop, exactly as it arrived.I recommend to do two important improvements in the laptop. The first one is to improve the RAM. Firstly, because with a single module works at single channel. But my recommendation is to replace the original ram module in the laptop. AMD processors are very sensitive to memory latency and rank. But the memory that came by default is a single side/dual rank (1Rx16) Samsung memory. If you look up for reviews in expert channels in Youtube (like Linus Tech Tips or Jarrod’s Tech), the speed with a single rank/double side RAM improves up to 20%. I opt for these pair of T-Force modules, because right now is the cheapest and works so fine, exactly like other more expensive memories. The second important improvement I recommend is the hard drive. The laptop came with a WD 256gb PCIe 3.0 disc, relatively slow (1900-950 Mb/s), but tiny (2242). The motherboard supports up to PCIe 4.0, so you can buy a disc up to 7000 Mb/s. For the second 2280 slot I choose a 2TB Inland disc, considerably faster (3500-3000 Mb/s), but considerably cheaper than a PCIe 4.0 disc. The motherboard supports 2 NVMe discs and an additional SATA disc, and the laptop came with adapters and the enclosure for a standard 2.5 SATA disc (mechanical or SSD). But unfortunately, there is no way (o no clean way) to connect all the three discs at the same time. It can be done in a dirty way, if anyone figures it out. I tested the three discs at the same time with the laptop open and it worked, but there is no room for the three discs at the same time once you close the laptop. Additional recommendation: do not forget to migrate the SO to the faster disc.

Its a great laptop for its price. Getting very high to max performance on games with it. Only complaints are the fan system isnt as powerful so it gets a little hot with continuous gaming at high performance. And the battery also dies rather fast when gaming. But the laptop itself works great.

I don’t do any gaming– so I can’t speak to specifics there. However, between the hardware, built in software for running macros, 8Gb DDR4 RAM and the SSD– this seems like it’s be a good contender for a lot of todays games. Obviously it has wifi built in, but it also has an Ethernet jack as well. What I can comment on as an engineer that works from home (thanks COVID!), this is an excellent work laptop. I’ve got a lot to comment on, so let me bullet point it:-8GB RAM is great for AutoCAD and other memory intensive applications-A numberpad is absolutely awesome when you’re working in spreadsheets half the day (the inclusion of the numberpad does scrunch the rest of the keyboard a bit, but it is worth it)-15″ is about the limit of what I think is easy to stash in a backpack and go-Built in Ethernet jack means I don’t have to worry about my wifi dropping out during calls or in the middle of working on big projects-HDMI out for hooking up another monitor-USB-C for hooking up a more modern USB hub to expand the available ports, etc-Fast processor doesn’t bog down when running heavy applications-Built in webcam for Zoom calls (though this is pretty standard these days)-SSD for lightning quick start up timesMy only complaints about this laptop are relatively minor:-Keyboard keys feel like laptop keys. There’s not getting around that, they are low profile with minimal movement compared to a dedicated keyboard. But that’s true of almost all laptops-Keyboard is a bit smaller than a dedicated keyboard, but that’s to be expected and acceptable to me as I love having a numberpad built in-Hard drive is 256GB. This isn’t a big deal since I am using this for work and more all of my files are saved on my employer’s network anyways-Power brick uses that rectangle connection instead of USB-C. I think USB-C can pass enough power that it’s work for this laptop (though I’m not 100% on that). However, that’s not what this laptop uses, so it’s a power brick you’ve got to travel with and can’t lose (as opposed to USB being pretty universal on newer stuff)That’s really about it. There is nothing I hate or strongly dislike about this laptop. Sometimes I can get the fans to run a bit for some of my more CPU intensive applications, but it’s not bad. This thing doesn’t heat up or get all that hot (at least I haven’t found it to). Overall, this is a solid performer.Note: one of the other reviews mentioned the keyboard backlight. Yeah, it’s a few different levels of cool white. it is not RGB (like in one of the main pictures on the listing). However, I really don’t care about that, so no big deal.
