Excellent laptop. Light weight. Pretty quick processor. Good amount of ports. And the thing looks great. I added PNY ($250) xlr8 m.2 gen3 x4 brand 2tb SSD- really easy take 6 screws out, plate off, put memory in, then screws back. Finally boot up comp and initialize/format drive. This is still cheaper than the $1700 1TB ssd 16gb ram version.

It is the right size for me and very light weight. The screen is perfect and it is super fast. I’m replacing an 2015 Lenovo ideal pad that was great but had a short battery life unlike the LP which last days before having to recharge. Honestly I don’t use it daily though.

It’s super light and looks very professional. The big 16″ 16:10 display is also really nice for productivity. I got this cheaper model and just swapped a 1TB nvme drive (SK hynix gold P31) for ~$110. That’s far cheaper than the $300 upgrade to the 1TB model.

I needed a notebook with a larger screen and keyboard that was still light. The LG Gram 16 got solid reviews but I was not able to find it locally to check it out. On a leap of faith I bought it… and I am thrilled with it. It is so light that you’d think it was an empty display unit! The keyboard is comfortable, the screen is beautiful, and the selection of ports is great. It is very quick and responsive, and battery life covers the whole day. I purchased the black model and the keyboard is quite readable even without the backlighting… but the backlight is great. The maximum brightness for the screen is quite bright, but some might find that the max brightness on other notebooks is a step or two brighter… this works beautifully for me but I wanted to mention that for any for whom that could make a difference. I work in a bright room and run it a click or two below max, and it is great. I considered the 2-in-1 version (for the touchscreen) but my top priority was weight so I went with the regular (non-touch) Gram. That was the right choice for me. Have recommended it to friends and would make the same purchase in a heartbeat.

This laptop is so ridiculously light that it still catches me off guard even though I’ve picked it up a million times. I love the 16 inch screen with its high resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio. All other laptops of this size are much bulkier. It’s even lighter than most 13 inch laptops.I also love the simple design and the keyboard is surprisingly good too.I just have one minor complaint: I wish the screen was a bit brighter. It’s more than acceptable as it is but it’s not brilliant.

I bought the new LG Gram 16” laptop for work use and have had it a few days, and so far I really love it. I shopped for a long time before deciding on the gram, and considered the Lenovo x1 carbon and the dell xps 13, as well as the new MacBook m1.My criteria was top performance for business use (email, excel, word, PowerPoint, etc), light and portable for travel, and a good display. The gram ticked all the boxes. The x1 carbon hasn’t released the 11th gen processor yet, and I really wanted an 11th gen i7 evo chip for instant start up.The dell looked great but ultimately I felt the screen was too small for me, and only the 13” has the 11th gen in xps so far.So having a 16” screen and being under 3lbs the gram was my choice. The styling is understated, and not at all flashy. At first you might think it’s plastic, but I believe it is magnesium and has a nice metal feel. Keyboard is responsive and I like the trackpad. I’m a big fan of lg displays, across TVs and monitors and this one is also great. Colors are rich although it is glossy and not matte.Start up times are the fastest I’ve ever experience. It’s only 3 or 4 seconds from being off, pushing the button to being logged in and ready to go. The finger print scanner is fantastic and accurate. This is the consumer version, as the lg business side still seems to be on 10th gen, so you’ll need to pay for the upgrade to 10 pro if you need to join a domain for work.Ports are also a big plus here, many laptops don’t have hdmi in this thin form factor.Overall very impressed with lg so far.

This is a great machine for coding and for running linux. I ran Fedora, Ubuntu, Pop OS! and they all ran like a champ. Everything works (except for finger print reader, which is a known thing with linux at this time, but should get addressed in future). Using TLP, the power saving is pretty good. I can get 7-8 hrs of runtime without connecting to power, with medium workload few tabs of web browser, zoom calls lasting upto an hour, remote desktop, in between playing music and so on. If you connect to power for just half an hour, it will add few hrs of runtime to it.This (LG Gram 16″ 2021), is not at the level of Macbooks or premium laptops in terms of Build Quality, because it has the plasticy appearance, however I found the build quality overall pretty good especially starting the 2021 models. It reminded me of an older Dell Business laptop with its all black matte finish, which could take quite a beating. The Silver models feel little better in appearance compared to the plain black but its more personal preference. The black is quite minimalistic to look and honestly I’m digging it, after years of using Silver and white laptops (Macbooks and Airs, ibooks etc).I compared this model with the 2020 17″ LG Gram, because they were similar in price and I wanted a big screen. It should be noted that LG has made lots of improvements from 2020 model. Anyone buying this for the next several years of use, should go for the 2021 model. The build quality in 2020 models is much worse, more flimsy, sound is poor, keyboard is not as good, trackpad is smaller and battery life is worse. There are lot of online reviews dinging the LG Gram for their build quality, I feel like they are based on older models. 2021 onwards, they have mostly addressed the problem and are on their way to becoming premium, if LG keeps up their game. What I loved about this machine:1. BATTERY life is great – Its nowhere near what they advertise, but its most likely still better than most of the competition except for m1 macs. I get 7-8 hours of moderate use, and definitely more than that on very light use (like playing music and one or 2 tabs). I managed to work 8am-4pm without ever connecting a charger. I connected it for less than an hour after 4pm and it was upto 65% ready for another marathon. With little bit of charging, this can give you easily 12-16 hrs.2. SCREEN is fantastic – Its big, bright and clear and the resolution 2500×1600 gives you lot of vertical room for productivity. One of my main uses is regularly using it out in the backyard and I can see clearly in late morning-afternoon sun, when I’m sitting under an umbrella or slight shade – not quite full sun but sunny outdoor. I typically keep scaling to 125%. At 100% scaling, things start to get too small. Really the only laptop in the market thats 16″ and weighs 2.6 lbs, with such good battery life.3. KEYBOARD – I love the keyboard on this, its better than my 2012 Macbook Air, better than a ($700) Lenovo Ideapad from 2021 and better than the 2020 LG gram 17. The keys have a bit of travel and they are pretty easy on your fingers. Fully pressing a key doesn’t cause a hard impact on your fingers like some laptops do (lenovo!). I comfortably type on this all day 8-10 hrs. Trackpad is good, the 2021 model has a big trackpad and it works well.4. LINUX works – I love that this thing is fully supported on linux (minus the fingerprint reader). I personally felt that it runs better with linux than windows. It runs less hot (not that it runs hot, but more like occassionally the fan will turn on for brief periods and its barely even noticiable), with TLP installed and power saving modes enabled. I get 7-8 hrs of runtime while using linux, few terminal windows open, firefox few tabs, music playing, Remote Desktop running, all of this plus occassional Zoom meetings. Zoom client for linux doesn’t yet support Virtual backgrounds and blur effect, but I’m willing to live with it, for all the other benefits that linux brings. Fedore 34 runs so smooth, I can forget about Mac OS at this time. Its more customizable and just plain better for my workflow. Pop OS! also ran well as did Ubuntu. I’ll eventually go back to Ubuntu for the wide range of apps in the ecosystem, but for now I’m rocking Fedora and loving it.5. BUILD QUALITY – is good enough. we have to see how this thing fares over the years, but on first glance, it seems robust enough. You’re sacrificing some points on build (no Aluminum here), in favor of lighter weight. The screen is more robust than previous models and overall its satisfactory to good enough. Of course, some more improvements would be great, it can be a lenovo/thinkpad killed if they make more improvements.6. WEIGHT – of course you’re buying this for the light weight. It is the lightest laptop thats this big as of 2021. This may inspire other manufacturers to address to the productivity crowd looking for Big screens in a portable form factor.7. SIZE – 16″ is really the sweet spot in large enough for most uses while still being comfortable for travel. The 17″ starts to get too big and would get uncomfortable to use in tight spots and the 17 is also hard to fit in bags. Compared to the 17, this was also so much lighter. 2.6lbs for a 16 inch laptop is unbelievable. If you lie down on the couch with the laptop on your lap or your tummy, it almost feels weightless.8. SPEAKERS – Speakers are okay. They sound great when the laptop is on a surface like a table, due to the downward firing speakers, which is how I use my laptop 100% of the time. If you pick the laptop up in the air or on your lap and listen to music, it doesn’t sound as good. But I found them acceptable, they still get pretty loud, just not as rich sounding. You can always plug headphones or use a bluetooth speaker if you need more.9. PORTS and SSD Slot – There’s an Extra SSD Slot which is fantastic. I plan to add a second SSD and possibly upgrade the primary one as well, so I can max out the storage and have everything with me on the go. So many ports in such a small and light machine, its awesome. You won’t need dongles here with 2 full size USBs. 2 USB-C, micro-SD and HDMI, its a relief to not have to worry about dongles. USB Read/Write are really fast.Everything I’ve mentioned in this review, is based on running Linux off of the USB, I didn’t wanna install linux on the internal SSD, in case I need to return the machine. So I installed linux on the USB, and running off of USB, I cannot feel any difference. So, if anything, this should run even better when I install linux on the internal SSD.10. FAN noise – or lack there of. This thing stays quite most of the time. The fan turns on very rarely and when it does, its not that noticeable. If you’re really pushing the machine to the max, I’m sure it will get hot. In which case you should be looking for something else.11. FIRMWARE UPDATES: LG isn’t exactly known for their software, but I noticed lots of firmware updates got installed during Windows update. This is somewhat comforting to see that perhaps LG has addressed some of the issues previously reported by people, by means of firmware updates, hopefully they can keep it up.As you can guess, I love this machine. I switched from using Macs for several years because I’m more of a Linux user and no longer feel the need to stay in the Apple eco-system, when I can pick a machine that more closely offers what I need (Big Screen, light weight and decent battery). I was going to pick up a Lenovo Ideapad, but I actually liked the keyboard on this more and its so much lighter. I bought this on prime-day at a $200 discount, so review based on that. At full price, this was may be too expensive IMO. If you’re a linux user or a coder, looking for a mid-level machine for light to medium duty, thats light weight and big screen, take the plunge.[I’m not a paid reviewer, I ordered this machine with my own money for my own work and personal use].

LG 16 in laptop is excellent for business and personal use. It is very light wt and the battery life exceeds 12 hrs

I wanted to spend around $1k on a new laptop, but the Gram checked all my boxes (insanely rare). The Gram 16 is the best value in it’s class, and well worth the $400 premium.I bought this for working from home. I absolutely needed a numpad, higher DPI screen, and thinness. Plus added features of USB-C charging, huge trackpad & great battery life. This is the version I would choose over the base $1199 one, as you get double the ram and a decent processor upgrade for $200 more. Since the only user replaceable parts in the Gram are the 2 NVME SSD slots.I am beyond happy with my Gram 16, this is the first 15+ inch laptop I can use comfortably in my lap. Which makes working from the couch, bed, kitchen, parks etc a breeze. I charge it up at night, and it gives me more than a full work day of ultra mobility.Build quality is outstanding, I would consider this a professional MacBook alternative but at half the cost of the MacBook 16.My only cons are the speakers, which are downward firing (muffled sounding when not on flat surface) & lacking in quality. The speakers are not a deal breaker, but I agree LG should address this since this is. The Gram is so close to being perfect.

I really do love this laptop it is lightweight, great battery and screen it is very lightweight, smells good etc. I would save yourself some time however and do a clean remote install of Windows 10 immediately after purchasing I tried many ways to get around it including wiping everything and reinstalling locally and persistently the taskbar was completely unresponsive after and no applications would install from anywhere.
