Honestly, this is the best laptop I’ve ever purchased but I did only had it for 4 months. I’ve had no issues with it and the keyboard is amazing! The touchscreen is also flawless and my laptop never slows down and honestly it is just amazing. I was scared to purchase such an expensive laptop because there is a chance you may recieve a laptop that is defective but so far no issues so I’m quiet happy w/ my purchase. I do have to say that when you purchase your laptop make sure you read what that seller is selling and their reviews on that product. Fortunately for me the seller I picked are the Toll brothers and they had such great reviews on their electric products. Great customer service on their part and the laptop arrived safely. Thank you so much, couldn’t be any happier!

I was initially looking to replace my iPad2 but after much research found this fit my needs much better. I’m officially retired but am now busier than ever. I’m still the family ‘administrator’, head cook & bottle washer, travel agent, long range planner, historian, and anything else that comes my way. I have a desktop computer but wanted something that gave me greater flexibility. This Surface Laptop 2 fit the bill. It lets me sit and watch the evening news while catching up on email, ordering things for the family, catching up on social media, editing photographs or researching various topics. It has a fuller capacity to let me write papers or create other academic & business output than an iPad with a keyboard would have given me. The 15 inch screen size is better than I expected. I love the touch screen and use a stylus for a lot of my work on this computer. The keyboard is comfortable to use particularly since the keys require only a light touch. The overall weight is very light compared to other laptops I looked at and the battery life is excellent. I have had this now about 9 months and couldn’t be happier. I expect it will serve me well for quite some time.

I searched for a laptop for school for several weeks, combing through hundreds of reviews and types. I decided on this one based on overall price point and reviews. Overall, this is an awesome laptop. It charges really fast and the battery life is pretty good. I love that it starts right up and recognizes your face as soon as you open it. It is durable and super fast. I use it mainly for taking exams, Microsoft office, and other things for school. I love the draw feature on it especially for lectures. You don’t really need the stylus pen. Overall, I have been pleased with this laptop and would definitely recommend it especially for the price point. It is super quiet and light weight as well!

This is probably the best laptop I’ve ever owned. I’ve being developing on a MacBook Pro for the past 7 years. I struggled with the butterfly keyboard on the new MacBook Pro for 4 years and all the recent issues with with OSX. I bought several mechanical keyboards to try to overcome the issues and was never satisfied. The Surface Book 2 is nothing less than outstanding. The keyboard is perfect. When working in Vi, the ESC key is just the right size. I love the ThinkPad x201, x240 and x270 machines, but the key layouts for the Page Up and Page Down in relation to the up and down arrows always caused an issue. That’s not a problem with the Surface Book 2.This system reminds me of the old Dell Latitudes of the early 2000’s. It was a workhorse for data processing and development. This system is almost effortless to develop on.Linux Convert – I was a RHCE and have been a linux proponent for the last decade. My last Linux distro was DeepIn and loved it. As much as I hate to say it, the latest version of Windows 10 smokes Ubuntu, SUSE and CentOS. I feel really sad writing that, but it’s t the truth. Just like the Apple of the early 2000’s, with Window’s 10, everything “Just works”. Printers, scanners, Skype, IDEs (Aptana, Sublime, Android Studio….) It’s such a shame. I really want to hate Windows and Microsoft, but this thing just kills them all.I contract with a lot of companies and deal with a lot of old data sources. Much of the time I have to do data work on my local system just to figure out how to export/convert the data to something usable. For example, I recently had to convert a TB of .dbf data to CSV to get this into AWS RDS. I almost set my MacBook on fire from the command line doing BREW based dbf to csv work. With the new Surface, it took seconds and I never heard a fan kick on. Time is Money in the modern development world. This is a big deal.Cons -So far, I can’t find any. It would be nice if I could use iMessage on Windows, but that’s not going to happen. Oddly enough, that’s the only thing I can think of that is a “less than” compared to developing on my MacBook Pro.Even just typing out this review on the Surface Book 2 makes me want to keep typing. It is truly effortless. I got the Black i7. It’s been a pleasure.

I have used Macbooks for the last several years, and as we all know, they are fantastic. However, ALL of the programs I need to use for work run on Windows, not Mac. So, I was looking for a way to get away from the virtual Windows machine world and wanted something to compete with a macbook’s reliability, trackpad, resolution, and performance. This. Is. It!! This little laptop is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with any Windows machine. I’ve owned Dell’s, HP’s, and ThinkPads back in the day. All of them were clunky, slow, and glitchy. This Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 is everything those other machines weren’t. It is fast (I’m using an i5, 16GB RAM, 256 GB HD config) and it will run multiple browser windows, my design software, Tidal for music streaming, a point-of-sale program, and more with ease! And, as great as the Mac trackpad is, this Microsoft trackpad leaves nothing to be desired. It is smooth, responsive, and accurate. Also, the fabric cover on the surface of this…well, Surface… is super comfortable. I’ve never owned such a sleek, cool, and well-thought out Windows machine.Literally, the only thing I miss about the Mac is iMessage. C’mon Google! Hurry up with Messages and give Apple some competition!!!

This burgundy color is just as beautiful in person as it is online. Microsoft’s continued perfect shot at making hardware. I love the keyboard and precision engineering that went into making this pc.

I don’t know if I can find enough positive things to say about this laptop. Yes, I know that it does not have any type C USB ports let alone a single Thunderbolt 3 port, but this laptop is really the fastest, best looking, and most functional piece of hardware I’ve owned. Aside from my $3,000 gaming PC that I built myself, this is the fastest machine in the house. Again, it lacks in I/O, but I haven’t had a need so far to plug anything into it. I bought the Surface Arc Mouse thinking that I would use it and I have only used it for a few minutes here and there. The track pad is so intuitive, accurate and responsive that I really just don’t need a mouse when I use this laptop. The keyboard is AMAZING. I mainly use this for work, and I must say I have not had a more comfortable all day typing experience on ANY laptop. I would recommend this laptop to anyone who needs a lightning fast machine for work/school that can last all day under load with a killer battery, and still look amazing while doing it. I’ve already gotten several compliments on the look of the machine from my colleagues. Well done, Microsoft. Well done.

I own a surface pro 6, and recently bought this surface laptop. Both of them work well and are well supported by MS.A couple of highlights –Works well with face unlock-Very well supported by Microsoft — if you ever get issues with chargers, they’ll replace it for free.-Amazing Windows 10 support — one of the best features of surface is that MS pushes updates via the Windows update system. Which means less bloatware and more up to date systems with better performance- single usb support — is this a deal breaker for you?- proprietary charger — doesn’t use usb-c for charging, but the charger has a USB port so you can plug in your cell phone into the laptop charger and charge!- very light and a very nice keyboard (has inbuilt LED too)- very fast boot up times

I have had my Surface for about 2 weeks now and love it. I bought to use for work, school, and some light gaming IE roblox (more the kids). Kids love it too. From an IT point of view, if you are looking to get one for a user or two, go ahead and get the docking station, for the price its not really that bad, and you’ll want it to be able to join it to the domain. The negative plan on spending some more money for a windows 10 pro product key so that you can join it to the domain. I tried to use our Volume License key, which microsoft says is supposed to work, it never has before, and it didn’t, I was already sure the key was tied to that image but gave it a try anyway.Great performance I was able to run solid works and look at some company drawings, no it is not a CAD machine but it will do the work, does get hot for its not exactly designed for that kind of work, I wouldn’t recommend getting it for an Engineer. As an IT admin I’m loving it.I saw a couple of reviews saying it got soiled after like 2 days…. Those people must be extremely dirty, cause I have not had that issue, this is something I wouldn’t worry about unless you know you’re just a dirty person to which you probably wouldn’t care.To Microsoft, I’m not always happy with how you do your windows updates (IE the working window should be allowed to be larger I work and then do school work I should be allowed more then 12 hours to setup a working window), but this machine is amazing!

The Surface Laptop 2 is one of the best laptops I’ve seen on the market. Spec wise it’s a higher end laptop similar to the MacBook Pro lineups, but beyond that the Surface seemed like the better buy for a couple of reasons.PROS:- Beautiful touchscreen display: This stands out when comparing it to the MacBook Pro. The display between the Mac and the Surface is very similar but touch capability makes it easier than being limited to the touchpad only. I have to say my hand tends to stay on the touchpad anyways but the option of swiping or tapping the screen can make certain tasks easier to do. The laptop has decent brightness if you are working outdoors, although like pretty much any laptop you shouldn’t be working on it in direct sunlight for the best results.- Amazing performance: I personally haven’t compared the Surface Laptop 2 side by side to the MacBook Pro to get a decent comparison but the Surface definitely gets the job done. Whether I’m video editing or browsing the web the Surface runs all of these programs smoothly. With at least 8GB of ram you can run several tasks at once without any delay, it stood up to just about everything I threw at it. As long as you’re not hardcore gaming on it the laptop runs smoothly- Amazing design: The design has stayed the same from last years model. The metal design on the outside of the laptop gives it a very smooth finish and premium feel. The laptop also has the alcantara fabric around the touchpad and keyboard which makes typing on the laptop easier on your wrists. Along with the design the laptop is fairly light and easy to carry around without too much effort.NEUTRAL:- Battery life: The battery life is decent on the laptop. With the high end processor and display it makes sense why the battery doesn’t meet up to some people’s expectations. I can get through a solid 6 – 7 hours of web browsing and occasional videos on a single charge. The charging cable for the laptop is compact so bringing it along shouldn’t be a problem.CONSThunderbolt 3 and USB-C: Despite the features on this laptop it lacks Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C ports. Although it’s basically an upgrade from last years model it would have been nice if they implemented both of these in the laptop, but personally it isn’t a deal breaker.Windows 10 Home: This laptop comes with Windows 10 Home, not the Pro version. This isn’t any issue for me as much since I don’t use any of the extra features the pro version provides. But BEWARE, this comes with Windows 10 Home.OVERALL:This laptop should suite most people in their day to day tasks. The performance should meet or exceed your expectations if you have a laptop older than 4 years so if you’re looking for an upgrade this is definitely worth the buy. Keep an eye out for sales on the Surface Laptop 2 to get a even better deal for an amazing laptop!
