Just received this yesterday. I had an S10e for my personal cell which I did not use much as I was generally using my work cell + I use MySMS for texting on my personal # that I did from my PC. Decided though that I was going to use my personal phone more, so wanted something bigger. I do not play games or anything CPU/GPU intensive on my phone, so figured this should fit the bill quite nicely.-Setup was easy. I use Nova Launcher Prime, so can customize icon sizes, layout, etc to my liking.-Read some reviews that on screen colors and pics weren’t the greatest. Seems fine to me when compared to my iPhone XR. Maybe not quite the same, but close enough for me.-Battery life is the strong suit of this phone.-I kinda like the finger print sensor on the back. Easy to get with either of my pointer fingers.-Phone does not have facial unlock it seems. Not a huge deal, but is convenient on my iPhone, especially when I can use it for apps like my bank, etc to log in.-Apps load quickly, have had no issues there.-Made a few calls and they were clear-Used my noise cancelling headphones via bluetooth to listen to some music. Had some jumbled lag a couple of times, but very well could have been the headphones. Will see if this continues.-Something else I read in reviews was the ‘cheap’ look of the plastic back…well, I use a case, so who cares??-If NFC and/or wireless charging are critical to you, then this is not the phone for you (Again, keep in mind the price point) as it has neither. I really don’t use NFC and if I do, I use my apple watch or iPhone for it. I do like wireless charging, but not a big deal for me that I can’t with this phone since I have to take off the case bc of the metal plate I use for magnet mounting in the car. Also, since the battery lasts so long, charging is not as critical most of the time.Bottom line, for $250 (Plus I used my citicard, so spread out over 6 monthly payments with no interest) you cannot go wrong here. Flagship phones these days seem to be total overkill for 90% of the users out there. If I am going to spend $1000 or more for a phone, I want it to cook meals, wash and fold my laundry and walk my dog – not give me a few extra fps for a game I am not even going to play.

Review by 43 year old American male. I needed a new cell phone that has a few specific features. Long battery life, a current barebones Android OS, and water resistancy. The battery life in the Moto G Power is beyond excellent… it goes and goes for days. It came out of the box undamaged and well packaged with all needed accessories included. It has basic Android 10 (with the May update running perfect) and without any extra crapps installed besides a few Motorola necessities that make operation simple. I don’t have a car… but I ride a Harley-Davidson everywhere, the other day I had the Moto G Power mounted to my handlebars during a rainstorm and the phone still works perfect. I have installed some upgrades – 1) T-mobile simm card 2) UAG brand case/cover (retails $30+) that I purchased online from Best Buy for about $15… use coupon code “20percentoff” during checkout for a nice discount. 3) Patriot 256gb micro SD card for extra file/photo/video storage – purchased on Amazon. 4) [3 pack] Janmitta screen protector HD clear anti-scratch no bubble tempered glass film – purchased on Amazon. All upgrades fit and work as intended.

UPDATE: phone was inadvertently subjected to the toilet water submersion benchmark. It passed. The speakers sounded weird for a few hours but now are fine.I really like it. I’ve been using mine for several weeks. The major appeal is certainty that the battery won’t die during a given day of use, no matter how heavily I use it. Incidentally, it also seems to “idle” much better than my old s7 edge; if it stays in my pocket most of the day, I can go to bed with 85% charge! The interface, screen, cameras, and build are also acceptable. I am really surprised that I like the Moto Gestures, and (unlike the android 10 gesture navigation, which I don’t like) the Moto Gestures are compatible with third party launchers like Nova. In general, it seems to load apps like Maps and Amazon a lot faster than my old phone, even though benchmarks are similar. The main camera takes great basic pictures. The wide and macro lenses are a really bizarre choice (the European version has a telephoto lens, which would have been more useful) but are a fun bonus. Against my better judgement, I’ve also taken it in the shower a few times (put it in the back on a shelf, exposed only to minor splashes) and it’s survived. Also, it does 5ghz WiFi, unlike the European version, which was a point of some complaints for the European model. There do seem to be some minor software bugs. “Smart Composition” rarely works (based on reviews of other Moto devices, it literally has never worked on any of them), I’ve occasionally had phone calls drop (unsure if this is phone’s fault), and the Dolby smart audio – which admittedly sounds better in every setting I’ve tested – seems at risk of overdriving the speakers at max volume and potentially blowing them out. Stock android apps are awesome but designed for phones without sd card support and occasionally struggle with sd card permissions. In short, very pleased.

I LOVE THIS PHONE. I am 69 years. I just want a phone that is easy for me to handle. My last phone was junk. I usually struggle with tech but the MOTO G POWER phone is so easy for me. There is lots of support and tips on this phone. The features and keyboard are LARGE EASY TO SEE and to READ THE SCREEN, BEAUTIFUL COLOR, long battery life, GREAT SOUND/CAN BE LOUD IF YOU NEED. The camera takes wonderful pictures. I am not using the fingerprint feature because with all the DYI and yard work I do, I don’t have fingerprints. FOR WHAT I GET WITH THIS PHONE THE PRICE IS VERY RIGHT. I highly recommend this phone. Linda

The hardware demands for 90% of the tasks people use their phones for is fairly low. I’ve been buying phones in the “budget tier” for many years now. I need some more time with it, but the Moto G Power is probably the best one I’ve used.

Finally a phone I absolutely love!! I came from an iPhone XR and I have to say, this is much better in my opinion. I love everything about this phone from the camera quality, the responsiveness, and long battery life. No lag time or glitches like some Android’s. Also, I live in a relatively rural area and have great signal strength thanks to Motorola. Beware of Samsung if you live in a rural area! I’ve gone through several and they just don’t get service!

I am not even a casual cel phone user and my last phone was a Galaxy S3, so I’m badly behind the times. I needed a new phone for my work and I laid out the criteria of what I was after – a massive battery life, 1080p HD screen, the latest Android OS (10 in this case), a fingerprint reader, an excellent quality camera capability, and the ability to play emulated games that would include the ‘harder to run’ ROMs for Playstation Portable emu. I also needed the phone to be USA carrier unlocked and be ready to use Mint Mobile as my provider. After watching about an hour of reviews for different phones, I ordered this one. Motorola knocked it out of the park with this phone’s specs vs the price point. It’s farkin’ amazing. I’ve tested it out, and it does absolutely everything that I was after, including running God of War on the Emu which usually cripples most budget phones. It didn’t come with a bunch of junkware (aside from Goggle Discover) and the few pieces it had, I was able to remove or disable immediately. I’m very pleased, and will end up using this thing for a loooong time.

I just got an iPhone XR around Dec 2019. It took a while to get use to. I started a return but kept it anyway. The longer I had it the more it didn’t do what I needed. I found the Moto G Power when I wasn’t looking. Expandable storage, plays local media, doesn’t have to be constantly connected to work perfect, Bluetooth connected to everything and all my old apps were waiting to be used again. Also i can make it look like I want it to look. All for less than half of what I paid for an XR.

I am a mobile apps developer. I purchased this phone with no intention whatsoever to use it as my daily phone, put to debug Android applications. For that purpose, it works great. But as I got used to the phone, I found myself liking it more and more, to the point where I ultimately removed my SIM card from my iPhone 7 (AT&T) and am now using the Moto G Fast as my primary device.Compared to my aging iPhone 7, the battery life is great. I had almost forgotten that a smartphone could actually last the entire day without a recharge. The screen is also phenomenal at the price point. Granted, it does not get quite as bright as my iPhone 7 does (that phone actually hurts my eyes if I turn the brightness all the way up), but beyond that it’s a great screen and the phone bezels basically do not exist.Performance is great. I have noticed no slowdowns whatsoever, and I would rate it as being at least on-par with the iPhone 7. Now, the iPhone 7 is an older phone so that might not be saying a lot, but to me that phone is snappy as well. I am not doing any gaming or heavy tasks with these devices, so neither phone has slowdowns in my everyday usage.I said I do not do much phone gaming, but I did test it out on a couple of games. I installed Minecraft, which runs great on the phone. The only issue I had is that i find the larger screen size uncomfortable to hold while playing a game in landscape mode such as Minecraft. Maybe uncomfortable is not the correct word, but there are instances where I have to let go of the phone with my right hand to tap on something towards the left side of the screen. Maybe it’s just the way I hold it though, again I am not really a gamer. I also tested streaming my son’s Xbox One to the phone using the Xbox app and a bluetooth controller, and it worked without issue.Camera quality is hit or miss, possibly the only major con of the phone. If camera is your #1 concern then look elsewhere, of course if that is the case you probably are not shopping in this price range anyway. In well-lit conditions, the camera quality is about on par with my iPhone 7. In poor lighting though, pictures are not that great. It can theoretically record 4k video, but I honestly did not think that the 4k videos looked any better than the 1080p videos, so I kept the setting on 1080p.Built in storage is a weak 32mb, but unlike many “high end” models out there, you can add a Micro SD card, making the low storage basically a non-issue. I put in an old 64gb card I had lying around, and you can have the phone format your card to use it as additional internal storage. The phone charges via USB Type C, and charging seems fast enough, although I’ve really only had to charge it a few times in the week and a half I’ve had it, and I’ve done at it night time so the charge time was largely unnoticed and irrelevant. The phone also includes the illusive headphone jack, which is always welcome these days. There is almost no bloatware included with this device, just a couple of Motorola apps. It is mostly stock Android with minor Motorola customizations. I installed an AT&T SIM card and I am getting good reception and good data speeds. WiFi connectivity is also good. I have not tested out hotspot tethering yet.All in all, I am blown away by how much phone you can get now days at this price point. I was planning on upgrading to an iPhone 12, but I think I am going to stick with this cheap Motorola for the time being. For the price of a new iPhone, I could just get a brand new Motorola every single year for the next six years, at which point the iPhone would be long past due for a replacement anyway. If you are looking for a good budget phone, or even just a good phone period, I would save your money and not hesitate to get this thing. I don’t see any reason whatsoever to shell out upwards to a thousand dollars (and even more now days) on a “flagship” phone, when a sub-200 phone works perfectly fine.

Pros: Call quality is great on Verizon. Opening websites, Google images is actually faster than some of more expensive phones I’ve tried before! Action camera takes rather decent videos. In right lighting, photos come out crisp. Stylus is useful in taking quick notes. Dual speakers and headphone jack are great fratures to have and keep.Cons: battery life for a 4000 mah phone is rather disappointing even for first day use. Roughly 5 hours of screen on time. Moto display, where you wave your hand to turn on screen is absent. This was one useful feature from Moto. Instead you get one tap checking. Last but not least is pure Android issue. Many Android phones allow you to control notification volume separately. Unfortunately, Moto follows Google Pixel’s pure form and removes this feature. You’ll have to silence ringer or media volume to silence your texts which seems like a huge step backwards. Conclusion: overall, this is a solid device for its price. With only a battery letdown being a clear issue, the G Stylus can be a great daily device for anyone who doesn’t wanna spend $500-$1000+ on a phone.
