It took a bit of work to get the text messaging to work, so I thought I might help Verizon customers from having to go through the same. Motorola tech help to us to understand that Verizon doesn’t train their staff at their stores when they put a Verizon sim card in an unlocked Motorola phone they also need to activate the “cdma less feature” in order to receive text messages. Verizon also doesn’t train their techs that troubleshoot customers problems with receiving text messages to check the CDMA less feature on the phone. I hope this helps someone having text issues on this otherwise very nice phone.

Okay folks here is another alternative to paying upwards of a $1000 or more for an alleged high end phone, this phone delivers on all fronts for a fraction of the cost. Priced @ $399 you get a long lasting battery, a triple rear camera system featuring a 48mp wide angle sensor, 6GB of Ram, 128Gb internal storage, sleek, beautiful styling and a whole bunch more features that gives it the look and feel of your more expensive trendy phones. Setup with an Android or Google Back up is quick and easy so what are you waiting for? I’ve owned and/or reviewed upwards of 14 Motorola phones up to the current versions for 2021 and these products stack up well against their competition.

I personally don’t like to pay $700 – $1000 on a phone. It was time to upgrade to 5g and I looked at a number of phones in the $300 – $500 range and decided on the Motorola One 5g Ace (released January 2021). I’ve had the phone only for a few days, but I can already tell that I made a good decision. It arrived with Android 10 and will upgrade to 11 soon. Beyond that, honestly I don’t know. The camera is very good and the OS is clean and unbloated. With a great processor and 6 Gb of RAM, everything just works like it should. Having 128 Gb of on board storage and the ability to use up to a 1Tb SD card, I don’t have to worry about filling up my phone. Yes, the body is plastic… don’t care; it looks great. I have to use a cable to charge it… no problem. It’s got a huge battery, so the Ace doesn’t need to charge very often. This phone also has an earphone jack, just in case you forget your bluetooth buds. So, I can’t say that YOU will love it or hate it, but this phone is highly recommended by me if you’re shopping in the midrange category. Check out the specs for yourself.

I decided to switch to the Moto G Stylus (2020 ed.) last year b/c I became very irritated w/ Samsung’s and Apple’s exhortation. I cannot reasonably justify buying a «premium» phone that costs well over 1K. You can get an ipad now for less than two hundred bucks and now these companies are wanting 1000+ for a phone that doesn’t do that much more.My computer, which I work more on does a lot more, cost less than half of this price. So jumping was more a philosophical change.Based off my experience with this phone I can tell you the following:1- The phone has a modest performance and works well comparing the price cost of the newest other flagship phones.2- The phone does 95% of what other so-called premium phones do w 1/3 of the price3- The phone charge is insane. I have held one charge for at least three day and spend several hours on the.4- The camera is outstanding for the brand and takes some nice sunny shots (will add photos later).5- The stylus pen, although simple, really under-sales itself and does a lot for the price of this.6- I hardly noticed too much performance distinctions with these phone and other more popular phones. Now granted, I am not trying to play hard-core video games because that’s what a gamer-PC is supposed to do (pun intended), but still compared to the prices of others, I don’t think you can beat this model.

I had 3 old phones go bad on me in the last 6 months, and needed a new, affordable one. I’ve liked my Moto phones, and this had decent specs, so I went for it. I’ve had it for a week now. I’m loving the size and quality of the display. It’s a little hard to use one handed, but the extra screen real estate is awesome. It’s great when the keyboard is on the screen….much more room above it.I haven’t used the camera a lot yet, but I took some really lovely sunset pictures and some macro shots (that was another selling point for me….I wanted to take pictures of small details in things I collect). The camera seems a LOT better than my past Motos. And the software has some fun options. And I’ve always loved the Moto twist to open the camera/chop to open flashlight gestures.I’m really happy that it came with 128GB of storage, and REALLY love that there’s a microSD slot so I could just pop in my old card with tons of pictures/music/videos on it already. And it’s great having the USB-C connection instead of the micro USB on my old dead phones. The stylus is just okay….nothing like the Wacom tech on my Samsung tablet. But it’s kinda fun to color, etc. And better than a finger for photo editing, etc.The fingerprint reader has been working great. Seems much better than the one on my beloved dead Galaxy S7 Edge.I may edit this later to add things, but wanted to mention to another reviewer how to get the 3-button navigation he’s used to. I did it myself when I got the phone, because I wanted the buttons, not the gestures. Go to Settings – System – Gestures – System Navigation and then choose 3 Button Navigation. Voila!

It’s a budget phone that sacrifices any sense of a good camera in exchange for a lower price tag and a strong battery life. Sometimes the web browser will freeze up, especially when watching vides on YouTube, and the flashlight sometimes gets turned on somehow but other then that I have no complaints thus far.Phone is big, which makes typing/texting easier then on previous phones I’ve owned. Screen resolution is surprisingly good and paired with the phones size combines for good feelings on the eyes. The previously mentioned flashlight is ridiculously powerful and while I should mention another plus here, I simply have not experienced all the good and bad I can with this phone yet.As for now, I highly reccomend this phone to those whom are:-On a budget-Want a strong battery-Want a big in size phone-Don’t mind a weak phone camera-All the aboveMy Overall Rating so far: 4.6/506/21/2021 updateOccasional problem with YouTube videos in that they will freeze up but not the audio. Can be fixed by exiting the browser or app then opening it up afterwards. It happens here and there, but not enough to worry or bother me.Flashlight somehow can be turned on unintentionally somehow. It once happened and I didn’t realize it was on until my Boss asked me to turn off the bright light aimed straight at her face.It happens more then I would like it to, but this is a budget phone; the performance plays off the price. My original statement still stands, regardless of these minor issues. It’s a solid buy for the reasons stated initially and is a great placeholder for someone saving up to afford a pricey phone.4.5/5

This is my very first unlocked phone.😊 I love it because I’ve got enough internal space to download apps that I actually use. As of now, I’ve got 107 apps with only 35% storage used. This phone is very durable when covered in a good protective case and a good screen protector. I’ve dropped it a few times on cement. Cracked the screen protector but not the screen. I’ve had phones to crack while in protective gear.As far as the 3 day battery life, I haven’t experienced that. And it maybe because I’ve got a few media and work related apps that run continually in the background. If I don’t charge it all day, it’s at 5-15% at bedtime.I’d recommend this phone to anyone who’s done with all the carrier’s preloaded apps and want a quality phone without spending hundreds of dollars. I’ve only had my phone about 3 weeks. Let’s see how it’s going at the 3, 6, and 12 months mark.

By gesture driven, I mean there is no traditional “home” button. At first this threw me off because I have had either Samsung or Blackberry phones for my cell phone needs for years. I stopped buying carrier locked phones a long time ago and only buy unlocked. This being due to limitations preset on phones by carriers and bloatware as well as slow update rollouts. With no home button, it takes some limited getting used to, but there is a homescreen Moto app that trains the usage very well. Basic swipes for what you want to do, and most if not all are able to be done one handed. That seems to be the goal here. One neat feature that impresses those who have seen me do it, is the double chop gesture that turns the flashlight on or off.Battery life is the BEST I have had in any cell phone. I work overnight and sometimes use my phone to stream Youtube or Broadcastify as I work. Never in a 10 hour day, even streaming, has the battery been lower than 81%. That tells me that 2 days is an easy get for battery life, especially if not streaming etc.The camera is solid. It offers to switch to night mode or macro mode if the sensor sees that may be better, but lets you decide. I like that.As to data transfer from my old phone, I used the intuitive Moto app to do this. It came up on first start. It transferred all but a few apps, because they were unsupported old apps or based on Samsung specifically as my old phone was a Samsung 9+. I did have to sign back in to apps, but that is okay. That is with all such transfers, even within the same family of phones. It is slightly heavier than the Samsung 9+, but has a solid feel. One side note that is a con for me, but not a deal breaker. This phone does not do wireless charging. One must use a type C cord. Of course it comes with a cord, but it is a very common type right now if one wants to buy aftermarket ones that are longer. As I liked the stand charger I used with my old phone, I came up with a solution with an Amazon product.A stand https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B2WNNB2This stand allows the cord to drop down from the phone and stand up without overbinding the cord. As my phone is my alarm clock, this is a great way I figured to do it.Do get a case for the phone. The one I got was suggested when I purchased it and is called Osophter for Moto G 5G. I like the case. Simple and buttons are not blocked or hindered.5G. Yes, it will do 5G where it is available. I do get 5G in most places I go. Where there is not 5G it seamlessly switches to 4G or even 3G and in settings there is a option to allow 2G for apps to stay connected. Helpful for rural mapping. The android system is seamless as well. So, in closing, I do think this is a VERY good phone for anyone looking to buy unlocked and is not brand loyal to other makers. Motorola is a solid maker. Hello Moto. Remember that?

I upgraded my Moto g6 to this phone. I have had it only 4 days but I absolutely love it. Really liked my g6 and this is everything I liked about it plus so much more. I have nothing bad to say. The camera is amazing. The pictures do not do this phone any justice. Extremely impressed when I unboxed it. My only issue is that it’s so new that it’s hard to find accessories but otherwise I could not be more impressed with it.Edit: I use Verizon prepaid and I did have a slight issue receiving messages at first but that was only because I had to call my provider and get my sim card reset for this particular phone. I was worried at first but they squared it away fairly fast.

I’ve had this phone for a few weeks now, and I love it. I love these Moto phones. For the price, the features you get I think are great. It’s a great screen, and I have no problem with the speaker. The camera works quite well. Yeah, I really like this phone.
