Update:I’ve had the 75″ version of this TV since March. I love it so much. I have other TV’s with bloom problems. This TV has some kind of crazy bloom reduction from regular viewing angles. It’s amazing. Sure, everyone knows OLED is awesome. However, it’s not as well known how great this TV is as an alternative to OLED. It’s big, beautiful, and crazy bright–much brighter than the LG OLED. It’s very thin throughout never more than ~ 1 1/2″ inches anywhere. It’s a gamer’s TV. It’s very low latency (5.3ms), supports VRR, and is killer for gaming. No fear of burn-in so use it as a monitor, leave static images up, etc. There’s a lot to love about this TV. I use it primarily for PC, PS5, and XBox gaming. I’m typing this out on it right now. Also, watch the LTT (Linus Tech Tips) video on this TV. It’s similar to my experience with the TV.Original Review:So I was apprehensive ordering this before any real information was out. It’s not cheap. I have the 75″. This TV has a stunning picture. It’s big bright and beautiful.I think it’s important to know why you’re choosing this TV because it’s expensive. It’s because you want the best picture you can find but you don’t want OLED because of it’s risk of burn-in. So the next best thing is this TV for 2021. Imagery looks amazing on this TV. That said, it’s QLED with local dimming. So you know it’s going to potentially have blooming, dirty screen effect, and black crush.I was surprised that my TV had very little DSE if any. In fact, the variation in brightness on the screen during a DSE test looks more like a gradient from the anti-glare filter. DSE is very low on my TV…if any. The blooming on my 75″ is very minimal. The contrast is really amazing on this TV with inky blacks and very little blooming. I mean, there is some blooming with small text on a black background for example. This is not an OLED TV but the tv delivers incredible contast so you’re going to get some blooming sometimes. That’s the price you pay to avoid worrying about burn-in and OLED.The only thing that is very apparent is black crush when viewing things like star fields on a pitch black background. It seems like it could be fixed with a firmware update. It’s the only thing I’m not loving about the picture.I also wish this TV had at least two HMDI 2.1 ports and that the user interface was streamlined. Being forced to agree to their user agreements to get firmware updates is bull also. Also 4K @ 120 FPS and VRR worked great with the XBox Series X. I think the Game Bar is a nice addition to the TV as I bought it with low latency in mind for when I’m gaming. My impression is that this is the best non-OLED TV out there for 2021, especially if you plan to do some gaming on it because of TV’s focus on proper gaming support including the Game Bar, 120 FPS update rate, and VRR support. My advice is if you want to treat yourself to a really great TV for your new PS5 or XBox and you don’t want to worry about burn-in, this is likely what you’re looking for. When you get it, just enjoy the big beautiful picture and don’t scrutinize the known trade-offs of QLED to closely. Just enjoy it.

When siting back on the couch watching the TV you don’t notice the blooming, only when looking at the TV from a sharp angle will you really notice it. Blacks are definitely alot deeper than any other regular TV out there. Next plan is to by an 8k version maybe in a year or 2 we’ll have to see. Would be nice for Micro Led to get down to a 65 inch…Update: Well guess you can connect the Bluetooth headphones directly to the TV but it sure would be nice for their app to tell you that instead of just saying you can only use wired headphones. So was going to use the Listen to sound on phone option to watch some late night TV without waking anyone but get this it only supports playing through the phones speakers or wired headphones. This is a joke coming from a company that decided to get rid of the headphone jack and push bluetooth headphones on consumers. Completly unacceptable.

Update! After 2 weeks! TV looks great on 4K, HDR and all the old content too, everything looks 4K. Upscaling works great, better than Nvidia shield pro.Only blooming I see is on Netflix logo on the tv app. When I watch on Nvidia Shield pro there is no blooming on Netflix logo!. So if you see blooming on Netflix,, it is not your TV. I have got a 55 inch and when it arrived instead of being excited, I was riddled with worry as many people do, about DSE, blooming and all the rest. I marked all the test videos and gotten ready before hand. Now, I couldn’t test the screen before it was put up over the fireplace. One weird thing is that there was no protective film on the screen! This made me think maybe the TV was a returned tv?My heart in my mouth, I went through the test videos. Yes , there is mild DSE and blooming; but mild and only in those test videos. I was so relieved! None of those things are apparent when you watch something, anything!Picture is wonderful, vibrant, breath taking even! UI is good and responses quickly. Apps are plenty and settings are expansive.I have a shield pro and I watch non 4K content through it and it does an amazing job upscaling the old movies. My phone connects to the TV and can control it.What I learned from this experience is do not sour your experience, your excitement with what you hear around on media. I am so glad I got this TV.I have a very bright living room, and this is the only TV in my place! So I needed a TV that can do both dark room performance and bright room Performance very well and I got exactly that. Blacks are real black, contrast is great, motion is wonderful, colors are so vibrant! And this thing can take all the windows and light you can throw at it! No blooming or anything else to lessen your enjoyment. And about the value; this TV has great performance both in dark rooms and bright rooms, best black levels on a non oled TV, great anti glare and viewing angles, out of this world vibrant picture, all for cheaper than 2021 55 inch oled tvs. I think the price is fare…I do a bit of gaming and when I can find a PS5 for a normal price, one 2.1 hdmi will be fine for me.One thing I would like to change is for Samsung to do a better job with quality control/built quality so we do not fret about the “screen lottery” At the end, these things cost so much and when I pay so much, I should not worry this much!I recommend this wonderful TV to everyone with similar use as mine; get it and enjoy it and try not to torture yourself about the “screen lottery”

The Samsung QN90A is a Major upgrade over the Q70R. Finally I can leave HDR On (in regular and Game Mode) and forget about it not being bright enough. My Older Sony X850C with a max 400nits was dull and dim on HDR. Now with the rated close to 1800nits in HDR brightness (Rtings confimed) HDR looks bright enough when highlights are not being shown. SDR is crazy bright if you need that for bright rooms. It has an Amazing Picture Quality with the Mini LED technology… Reflections are kept to a minimum with the Ultra Wide Angle Filter Samsung Uses here on the QN90A. Many report blooming it seems here but Not on my panel. Only time I see Blooming is when HDR is On and it seems the algorithm that the Tv uses thinks it needs to display 1800nits on a subtitle. LoL! we all know subtitles don’t need 1800nits… that I can see could cause Blooming. Very rare but I have seen it. See my Channel on YouTube at Viktors Reality for Videos and Testing so you can make an Awesome Buying Decision. So Far I do not regret getting this and I believe this will give a true gamer and movie lover an Unbelievable experience!!

I don’t write many reviews but felt compelled to write this one to help balance out the negative ones.It is hands-down the best looking television I have ever owned. The blooming is nowhere near as bad as indicated on some of the other reviews. I only notice is when I’m really looking for it.And a minor bonus, which I’m sure isn’t relegated to this model only, is that because of the SmartThings integration, my smart light switch automatically detected the Tv and I can turn it off along with my lights with one gesture as we leave the room after watching tv. Which is useful because we always misplace our remote.I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this television to someone,This review is for the 85” version.

I don’t know why so many people knocked the quality of the picture on this TV. Because this picture quality is amazing! And I’m coming from a 2018 Samsung qled LED TV. It’s Bright beautiful and has clarity. I just cannot explain how good the picture quality really is! It doesn’t matter if I’m watching cable or actually watching a movie. It just does not get any better than this. And this is one thin low profile TV all the way across the back. not to mention a ton of features. The remote is just as nice as the TV! Probably one of my favorite things about this TV. They’re new updated remote version is amazing. it’s the right size. it’s the right shape it has the right amount of buttons on it. the solar charging works flawless it just feels good in your hand when you’re holding it LOL. Don’t listen to the negative reviews I don’t know why there’s so many? I’m very happy I didn’t listen! And pulled the trigger on this beautiful work of art.

I recently purchased the Q90t (last years M model) and loved it but it had some quirks, such as sound skipping every once in a while. Tons of forums on the topic.I read all the reviews and specifications on the QN90A and couldn’t wait to see if the hype was real. OMG… there is a night and day difference from the Q90T compared to the new QN90A. The new Neo QLED and twice as fast HD processors, seemed worth a try, so I Pre-ordered.Hooked it up today with my Dish Network and holy smokes, the picture is so noticeably better. The colors, the depth, the clarity and sound is so profoundly better and vivid. It is difficult to take my eyes off the screen. Even commercials. It enhances everything to 4K even if it’s not. A review is not enough, you have gotta see it in person. I highly recommend this tv and I can say it is the best tv ever!

Coming from a 2017 oled from LG. It had a great picture, despite tweaking the screen saver to come on at the earliest time frame of inactivity the TV had awful burn in from my use of the onboard Youtube app. Play buttons burned into the lower right hand corner, upper left, etc. It began to look horrible. LG support was no help, even if I offered to pay for repairs (new panel replacement). So I was disappointed to say the least. So now I am in a position where I need a TV that does not burn in, but still doesn’t disappoint visually after coming from an OLED (which really do have amazing contrast levels, and decent brightness). This TV fits the bill. 2000 nits of brightness vs 600 I think on the oled. The brightness is amazing. The black levels are as good as oled so far, indistinguishable to me. The youtube app which gets a lot of use is snappy, and better than the LG one as the thumnails play a preview of the video before clicking. This was really important to me. The picture is beautiful, vivid, and clear. It’s heavier than the LG I had, but only because the stand is robust and of good quality. It is thin profiled, and the screen is glossy. The remote control is solar powered and usb c chargeable. Easily the best remote I have ever seen or used.I’m not sure why I strayed from Samsung with my last TV (Oled technology captivated me) but I wish I never did.

Update 03/17/21: Added response to blooming comments others have postedWe have two Pioneer Kuro TVs in the living room and master bedroom so we’re used to outstanding picture quality, perfect colors, zero blooming, no off-axis issues, etc., just no 4K. The Pioneers spoiled us so we’re very picky about the other 4 TVs and always wind up with the top models available in the needed size.I received the the Q90A 55 inch March 2 to replace a Samsung Q70R 49 inch in the bright day lit exercise room because it has 60 watts of sound so I can now hear dialog over the treadmill!I tested picture quality watching Amazon’s “The Expanse” via the AppleTV in 4K. This show has jet black space scenes with tiny bright white specks of items, the credits are tiny in bright white against jet black. Everything is razor sharp with zero blooming! Just like the plasma! The show contains many fantastic scenes full of dark and bright colors on jet black that are rendered perfectly, while still keeping skin tones natural. However, I feel red is better on the plasmas (LCDs always had trouble with red) but keep in mind I did nothing to adjustments, just out of the box.The main TVs will be replaced with OLED or Micro LED. The 55 is the smallest Q90A, otherwise I would buy a 50, 32, etc. for the other rooms that can’t fit a 55. I would recommend the Q90A to any of my friends. The Q90A is a great TV with a stunning razor sharp picture that amazes me, and that’s hard to do.In response to the blooming comments: Someone posted pictures of what they called blooming, I saw it one time while paused and it is definitely not blooming. It was in the lower left corner and looked like small clouds (exactly like the posted picture) but there was nothing there since it was a black space scene. I got up close and examined it, I then turned the AppleTV off and the cloud disappeared, I turned it back on and the could was still gone. It only happened once since I got the TV and I use it everyday. I was a TV repairman and been in electronics and computers for 40+ years and here is my take: The LCD was out of sync with the backlighting. Remember, mini LED is new to Samsung consumer TV’s and there are a lot more LEDs that need to be in sync with the LCD. I would not be surprised if a firmware fix is in the works.I had a minor and a major setup problem that I am sure will be/is fixed by a firmware. I am posting here in case someone else runs into them, otherwise the TV is fantastic. I noticed a firmware update was ready once I got it working. Here goes:Major Problem:The remote froze right after you select your network and the password screen display. I entered one letter of the password and everything froze. I found that only the power on/off button worked, no other remote buttons worked. I tried a different Samsung remote and it did exactly the same thing, worked once and stopped. After hours of reading web, etc. I called Samsung (not expecting much) and was stunned I only had to wait about 2 minutes and the (very nice) person had me re-pair the remote using the bluetooth setup procedure for remotes. Apparently, at that setup point there is a firmware bug that unpairs the remote! Hope this helps if someone runs into it.Minor Problem:Our prior Samsung TVs automatically recognized the DirecTV receiver and AppleTV 4K. This one displayed video fine but identified them as HDMI1 and HDMI4. I found that if you later setup the remote control support for them even if you don’t use it, they change to DirecTV and Apple.

I had the q90r and the q90t and now I have the Qn90a and it’s pretty great! My q90r (2019)was the best of them all but I bought it refurbished and it didn’t last. The q90T (2020) was a step backwards. That year samsung decided to downgrade their 4k series. The q90t was essentially the replacement for the q80r (2019). I gifted the q90t to my inlaws and decided to try the LG Gx . As soon as I plugged it in I was disappointed. The picture was just too dark. I sent it back pretty much immediately. Then I ordered qn90a. I’m not kidding when I turned it on I cheered just from the opening display lol. The picture is so bright and so nice. Sports look good and video games look great. I feel like I notice less blooming in this one compared to the q90t version.
