I was attracted to the long zoom, which as proven to be satisfactory. It takes a little practice to use some of the best features, such as a viewfinder (pops up, then small inner portion pulls out toward you), fine-tuning ring for focus, and the panorama setting. I was impressed by the bracketed shots used for getting good results under low light or long zoom. The 3-second timer is great on the self-portrait view with the monitor flipped up. The moving parts feel a little fragile (viewfinder, flash, zoom lever) so I will handle with care.

I purchased this just before taking a trip to Maine and Canada and was absolutely thrilled with the results. It’s quick, has an amazing zoom, and takes great pictures. It’s replaced a year old, large RX10V IV Sony camera and an older Sony NXR and I’m convinced delivers equally good photos. The two things I’m not thrilled with is the interface with Apple products….just not intuitive; and the second is that it doesn’t appear to have the same ability to download Sony software to enhance the photography options and experience. Otherwise, a great…really great travel camera.

Great for outdoors. Love that you can change the brightness with just a turn of a dial. I had issues with the lighting but by playing with this camera for a couple of days ive learned about the different options very well. It also tells you on the display screen if you need to use the pop up flash. Indoors i wish the picture quality was a little better but i love the range it covers. I can capture a whole area with a click of a button which i couldnt get with previous cameras.

Sony DSC-HX99 Compact Digital 18.2 MP Camera – excellent point and shoot camera. I was looking for a point and shoot – with** a Viewfinder as well as great zoom since I seldom get close enough to shoot close-ups now at my advanced age. This does the work for me. It will take a while to master all the menus and take advantage of all the features in the software… it’s a lot to learn. That said – on Auto it takes great photos. Zoom is terrific and the clarity is as good and better! than my old 35mm SLR with telephoto. Sony has definitely done a stellar job with this camera including the Zeiss lens. #PointAndShoot#ZoomPerfection#ViewFinder

It takes great pictures. I used it to photograph the lunar eclipse and the results were amazing. I am a serious amateur and it is the first time in 40 years that I have a camera with more capabilities than I know how to use. I am having a great time getting familiar with those features.

I have several large cameras. Although I won’t give them up just yet, this is a great tiny camera with a lot to offer. Fits perfectly in a jacket pocket to capture those outdoor adventures. Received as a Christmas gift so I haven’t used it too many times yet, but captured some great snow pictures.

I’m sure there are things this camera does that I have no clue about yet. It’s similar to my old Lumix, but there are parts I have no clue yet how to use. I wish it had come with a complete manual to read on the plane!! I ended up with trial and error finding features I didn’t know it had. Overall though, it seems to have taken some nice pictures for what I used it. I haven’t yet tried to focus on a flower across the yard or bird to get a cool close up pic (which I was told be a friend it does). More trial and error. Looking for the manual to download!

The people who expected this camera’s still quality to equal their full frame or APSC DSLR camera’s are idiots. Surprise – it doesn’t. But the 4K video is quite good, with excellent focus, and stabilization. So it takes decent stills, but for the price it’s a great video machine. It also does a long still burst, and can do 120 fps video, which you will pay a lot more money for elsewhere.

Great quality photos if you get the shot right, it’s a hit or miss just like any other camera. Zoom is incredible with its size, this camera is very compact and smaller than I expected.Wish it could capture better in low light but that would be a different price point. The control buttons are tiny, which are both good and bad.
