One of the best lens I have. This is part of the three lenses I wanted to have. This is all purpose. Then sigma 10-20 and one prime 35MM f1/8. Picture quality is great and zoom is fantastic. The camera bag became my favorite and no longer using my expensive camera bag. After placing the order I tried to cancel withing 15 minutes but it was late and Amazon didn’t let it cancel. Then I decided to keep it and glad I did.

We are going to Alaska in the early fall so I wanted one lens that would cover almost any situation I might encounter. I have played around with it a little so far and it seems like an excellent lens. I especially like its close focusing ability. I am anxiously waiting for it to quit raining every day so I can get out and really try it out. I purchased from Digital Goga because of the package. Even though I might not use all of the items, some vendors were selling the lens by itself for the same price.

I travel and am a photography is one of my obessions; this lens saves me from having to carry 2 lenses. Love it very happy. It was my b-day present to myself.

This lens makes my Canon EOS almost as flexible for zoom range as a point and shoot camera. The big difference is the ability to clearly see what will be shot. With a point and shoot you have only the little screen at the back of the camera to guess what will be seen by the lens, then you have to wait to take the shot as the point and shoot camera makes up its tiny mind. Having a large zoom range lens on a DSLR allows much easier composition and when the button is pushed the image is captured. While the lens is heavy it does it all.Very pleased.

Everything was packed as ordered and packed quite well. The backpack, while small, is of decent quality and will be perfect as I bought this lens to be a single lens walk around. So the camera and the single lens, with the extras (filters, etc), fit quite nicely. There is an outer strap that should hold the mono pod. happy with the items received from the vendor. Very satisfied, especially at the price point.Update 11/8/2018: Took it on vacation with my Canon 77D. I was seriously impressed with the functionality. CV and auto focus work great. The zoom capability is very impressive. Lens is a bit heavy but that is to be expected.Note: In two separate purchases, I bought the 77D camera, then the Tamron Lens, from this vendor. I highly recommend Digital Goja.

This photographic package provided by Digital Goja is an amazing deal! The list price for the Tamron 18-400 mm lens is $649. For $20 more you get a variety of useful items including: 72 mm Filter set (UV, CPL, & ND), lens pouch, filter cleaning kit, lens paper, bulb blower & a nice (small) backpack that can hold enough equipment (lenses, etc.) for any outing. Another item that is provided, but not specified, is the 72mm Lens Hood- it’s in the box that the Tamron lens comes in. I almost forgot about the monopod that is included in the deal from Digital Goja! The lens, itself? Well, in my view it’s the best all-around option that is available! (Remember: it’s for crop-sensor cameras only.) I love the lens- it has totally replaced my kit lens (18-135mm) that came with my Canon 60D. I find that my images are sharp thru all the range the lens provides. I haven’t made any specific tests at every focal length- my interests are more of the landscape variety, rather than wildlife. Of course, you can’t expect the same detailed sharpness as a $5,000 400mm F4 prime lens! But, for the cost, it’s a great lens! The lens is not too heavy (in my view), it is solidly build & the focal mechanism is tight- no lens creep! It has Vibration Control which allows for a lower shutter speed without camera shake. I’d sum the lens up by saying: I wish I’d known this lens was available before! It would have saved me from buying a couple of lenses that will now be found mostly on my shelf! :]

This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. And I researched it for a long time. I wanted to buy a Canon for my Canon but that was thousands. No doubt that would be a great lens but besides the $$$ there were a few other things that made me want this lens. There aren’t too many around that are 18-400 and this light. I almost never take this lens off my camera. I had been switching constantly between my Sigma 17-50 and my Canon 75-300 whenever I was out. I am primarily a landscape/wildlife photographer with an obsession with the moon. So I wanted a 400. Now I can shoot a sunrise and turn around and zoom in on a bird in flight without switching lenses. The above images were all hand held so Image stabilization is a big plus. Also the lens is not that heavy. Some 400’s look and feel like a small cannon and I couldn’t handle that for my everyday shooting. To me this lens is a great all around with little to no compromise. I do some low light big sky stuff sometimes and my Sigma f2.8 might be a little better than the 3.5 on this lens. I’ve had this lens since November and it’s my primary lens now. I’ve shot about 5000 images with it and couldn’t be happier.

  8. Chris Dantonio

I absolutely love this lens! Great zoom, all the way down to a pretty wide 18mm, which is what my normal lens is, so when I’m in the city shooting, I don’t need to change lenses. Great all around lens for all occasions! I am a drone photographer by trade and am just starting with the DSLR, so it’s great for beginners with auto focus and vibration compensation. All photos I attached were shot with it, the last two give you an idea of the zoom capability. All the extras in the kit were great for me just starting out as well, especially the bag! Love my Canon t7i camera but seeing as lenses are all they do, Tamron is the way to go for lenses, in my humble opinion. Couldn’t beat the price anywhere I looked for comparable lenses from other manufacturers.

  9. The Dawg

This is a magic lens, if you have a crop sensor DSLR like a the Canon Rebel cameras. I have a Canon 18-135 and the 55-250 Canon lens. I used this lens for 10 minutes and decided that I will never use the 55-250mm again. This lens has sharp imaging from 18-400mm, I intentionally shot some difficult shots to evaluate for chromatic aberation and had none.My only small complaint is that this lens does not zoom smoothly. It is smooth from 18mm to about 250-300mm then there is a little sluggishness. This is not a problem at all for photography, but if you are shooting video it could be an issue.
