We wanted a small Toshiba LCD HDTV for the kitchen to replace our small, but bulky, CRT TV. The new one works great. We ordered it in white to match the kitchen appliances. Love it. Simple and very easy to set up and operate. Note: The new remote also operates our larger living room Toshiba Regza HDTV we ordered from Amazon. Now, The wife has her remote and I have my remote that operates both Toshiba TVs.

UPS and Amazon is a great team for holiday shoppers who are looking for speed, convenience and good deals. I ordered this TV late Sun night before Christmas and got it on a freezing rainy day next Tue., less than 48hr later. Superb timely service, quite a surprise!The TV has great reception, with an old antenna no cable, we were able to receive very clear images. The screen size does need to be funneled a little, but no problem for us. Good sound effect, we bought this set for our in-law’s kitchen, so the convenience of setting it up and the sound and image quality, would make her cooking experience dramatically different. Plus, instead of telling her that we are still waiting for the shipment and all stores sold out of the unit, we had it delivered in time for free and were able to try it out before presenting to her. Thank You Amazon!

I ordered this TV over a month ago and have been very satisfied since day one. I ordered from Amazon on a Friday and it arrived three days later on Monday. Setup was very easy and the built in tuner found 45 channels (about 15 are analog). We use a 30 year old antenna strapped to the chimney and the picture is great! I strongly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a small TV.Update (almost 2 years later)I recently purchased a 37″ TV for the family room and discovered that the “info” button on the remote does not give the following info about the program:1. Beginning and end time for the program2. Brief program description3. Current signal strengthThe above is important to those of us who still get free over the air TV and at first I didn’t appreciate the fact that this little Toshiba does this but other brands do not. I think the assumption by TV companies is that EVERYONE has cable, dish, FiOS, etc and get their “TV Guide” from their cable companies.

I was concerned about buying the Toshiba after reading a couple of negative reviews. However, our experience has been great. This TV worked right from the plug-in. Once the set-up enabled me to select cable vs antenna, the Toshiba scanned and logged all of the channels. Tagging each channel with it’s designation (ABC, NBC, HBO, etc) and as a Favorite is tedious, but works. The sound quality and volume are great. Picture quality in low and bright light is also great. It would be very helpful if my cable provider, Bright House, offered a programming guide without a set top box, but that has nothing to do with the TV. Be careful of the instructions for setting up the TV, out of the box. Getting the stand into the standing position seems tricky. You have to strongly push the stand (almost force it) into the upright position and set the LOCK switch. The instructions should say that, but they don’t. We thoroughly enjoy the quality experience for a very good price. I just hope that it doesn’t drive dissatisfaction with our bigger TVs.

I bought a Sansui 19 inch LCD from Walmart the day after Thanksgiving for $178 and the picture was poor. I returned it and for $50 more dollars and no tax or shipping I got the Toshiba. The picture was infinitely better. It is hooked up by a 50 ft component video cable to a satellite receiver so I do not use the tuner, which others have said was slow. I am using it in the kitchen sharing the same signal from the den and we enjoy watching the news on it as we cook. It was a good choice.

We needed a white case TV for my wife’s bathroom. Looked at the limited options and decided on the Toshiba 19AV501U. The TV is perfect for our application. The white case allowed the TV to not be the center focus of the room and the screen viewing angle enables viewing from anywhere in the room. The sound and picture quality was very acceptable. I would recommend this TV to anyone that needed a small white case TV.

No problem with sound…loud enough at half volume for bedroom use and not “tinny” in the least. Picture wonderful…better than our Sony “tube” TV in the living room, that’s for sure. Only being used with a DVD player right now and will be hooking up to cable in the next few weeks, so not sure about any tuner issues. All in all, nice for the price.

I’ve had Toshiba TV’s in the past and never had a problem. This one is real sweet with an easy to use remote. I have it set up with a 55db gain rabbit ear antenna, and I programmed the TV only to receive hi-def, the picture is crystal clear. One great feature is the “half-mute” which lowers the volumn enough so that you can still hear it and carry on a conversation with someone. One click on the volumn control and you’re back to your original setting.Highly recommend it.

In researching and comparing TV’s before buying this TV, I had pretty much decided that this was the TV for me. However, some of the comments by other customers gave me pause, due to the sound quality as they had reported it. Especially, since I was not positive if they really meant sound quality or volume or both. I have a pet peave with a television whose sound comes out of the side/back of the set instead of the front (note: this tv has front speakers). Since you are usually sitting in front of the TV. With those sets other sets side/back speakers you have to blast the volume to hear it, but then it is blaring into other rooms etc. I can tell you this TV has excellent volume control and the sound at first seemed a little different from my old tv but nothing unexpected (at first it was like hearing a strangers voice that quickly became a friends familiar voice). So if the sound volume or quality is something you might have concerns about in the purchasing of this TV, let me put your mind at ease (unless you are a sound guru dealing with bass, tremble and all of that) you will not regret purchasing this TV. I feel that this was one of the best purchases I have made for the money in a very long time. Additional note: if you are a first time amazon purchaser or on purchasing anything large or electronic from them, do not worry they are the best. I have been purchasing from them for years and I have never had a problem with any purchase, return or help needed..

Being conditioned to viewing a 1080p 51-inch Sony HDTV with a superb picture, little did I expect the quality I found in this small package. We are receiving 21 over-the-air digital channels on this Toshiba with 7 of those in HD. The vividness,color integrity and intensity, and audio are exceptional on both HD and standard digital. It would be difficult to imagine a better value anywhere on an entry level HD receiver.
