I bought the 8tb model. I mounted this hard drive with screws (6mm #32 I don’t remember) and rubber fittings I bought per Google since I didn’t thing to order them in advance. The only sound you really hear is the quiet flicker to the hard drive arm only when it is reading or writing. My computer is in my bedroom and the sound is quiet enough to sleep through when transferring files

I’ve bought many, many hard drives through the years and the X300 line is generally my go-to for hard drives. I’ve found them to be *much* more reliable than most other brands. I put these hard drives through a considerable amount of constant read/write and they keep up!They do make a noise when the drives are busy (I want to say the noise is only during writes) but I find the noise nostalgic and it’s nice to have an auditory confirmation that my system is “doing work”.I think my favorite thing about these drives is that they are just reliable. I have several of these drives that have been quite literally working their butts off for 6 years now and they’re still going strong!

I have been using Toshiba drives for years now.. They have been cranking out winners ever since they bought the Hitachi drive plant.. This 8T drive is no exception.. Transfer speeds are good and it is great to have the large space for storage. Thank you and Namaste…

Have used Toshiba 3TB drives in several systems for years. Fast enough for high activity but larger storage needs. Have had no failures to date. Just replaced 2 of those with 2 8TB models but too early to tell on longevity. Here’s hoping they do as well. Great drives to date. Will update if luck doesn’t hold…

Had this hard drive about a month now and love the extra space. It also reads/writes pretty quickly, and it is considerably quicker than a few external hard drives I have, as well as other internal ones I previously had installed.

installed it in about 15 seconds, and what surprised me, after reading all these reviews complaining about noise, is how completely quiet this hard drive is. I am currently installing like terabytes worth of video games onto it, and there is no noise. it is whisper quiet.after you format, its 7.27 TB

I got the 8tb 256mb cache 7200rpm drive. High read and write speed. Works wonderfully. I use an nvme for my main drive but got this because I have a ton of games on steam and was sick of deleting and installing constantly. This works great as a mass storage game driveHighly recommend

I’m a gamer and when my Steam account had grown to 285 games I decided it would be cool to have them all on one drive. So, using that as an excuse to buy a new drive and after having performed due-diligence, I chose the Toshiba X300 8TB version. I installed it myself, yay! It has worked flawlessly and is virtually silent. Also I’m considering a 2nd one and looking for an excuse to justify it.

I guess I’m the first to review this version. One of my older HDDs was dying and I needed more space so I went with this. Performance is great, but its a little noisy. I was lucky enough to get everything off the dying HDD instead of having to use a backup so I put it through some serious work on its first day and it held up. With most HDDs, problems don’t arise until later. I will update the review if it dies, but so far so good.
