I recently bought an HP Envy TE01-1022 desktop which is a fabulous computer except the Realtek wifi installed drops connection constantly. I had the same problem with the wifi in my old HP desktop and gave up trying to resolve it after months of frustration and just replaced it with an earlier version of this TP-Link card. Rather than waste time trying to debug, I did the same with the new machine and holy crap…I went from 15 Mbps download speed and constant drops to 53 Mpbs consistently–over a 10 Mbps cable connection. I don’t even know how that’s possible (my guess it, the cable had excess capacity and the wifi has compression) but I’ll take it.Rock solid, super fast, comes with an adapter plate to git tall or short slots.

This review is written after installing the card and seeing that it works. I might change this review if it stops working. But I want to say how easy it was to install this on my Dell 8700 and Dell 9100.I installed two different versions of this AC1200 card this week. One without bluetooth (Archer T4E) and one with bluetooth (Archer T5E). I’ll discuss both of them here. The one without bluetooth…. I just put the card into an open PCI express slot, closed the computer, started the computer, installed the driver, and was on the ‘net is minutes. Quick and easy. (If you don’t have an open PCI express slot, then you’ll have to replace something already installed.)The one with bluetooth, however, requires an open USB slot on your motherboard. It comes with a tiny cord you have to plug into the motherboard. I’d never done anything like that before. I didn’t have an open USB slot so I had to unplug one. I looked up a description of this particular motherboard (using another computer) and deciphered which one I wanted to unplug. I’ll find out later if I chose correctly! To my understanding, the wireless card will still work if you don’t plug in the USB cord, but you obviously won’t have bluetooth functionality. Another thing I noticed with this card is that it started working, loading browser pages, before I tried to install the software (this didn’t happen with the other one). I installed the software anyway, just in case.THAT SAID…. let me add this. Both discs for both versions were very difficult for my CD/DVD rom drives to read. Took forever. So long that I gave up and just went to the website and downloaded the software to a USB drive (after I was all finished I saw that the discs had finally opened up). So I do recommend that you first go download the software from the website and have it ready after you install the wireless card. Just in case your computer has the same amount of trouble reading the discs as mine did.

Easy to install, my speeds are all as expected with it, very stable except it has one major issue.I cannot tell the interval, but I have noticed that every 3-5 hours it disconnects me and I’m met with a “Can’t connect to this network” or an eternal “Connecting…” message, meanwhile other devices are connected fine. Once I reboot my computer, all is well.I’ve had similar things with past wifi cards on other computers, might be a DHCP issue, not sure. Regardless, I was still going to give this a 4 star rating because quite frankly, relative to other wifi cards, it’s solid. Still, it’s insane that it is 2020 and we cannot have a working wifi setup. I will tweak with it and see if I cannot fix it and upgrade the review to 5 stars.EDIT: After switching to my 5G connection, have had zero drops or noticeable spikes in packet loss. Overall happy with the card.

After rearranging my office I needed to add this wireless card to my PC for connectivity. This card works wonderfully. I have an 802.11AC router with beam forming enabled and an ISP plan for 600Mbps. The speed tests on the computer using this wireless card consistently match speed tests ran on the router/AP itself though your results may vary.I dual boot the system with windows 10(latest update as of this review) and linux(ubuntu 20.04 based popOS!). This card was detected by both OS’s without any driver installation or configuration needed. Definitely would recommend this card.

Tested my pc this morning with the 2.4ghz wifi card that came in my gaming tower that I use for video editing. Got 7mbps with a 300 mbps account so I knew I was suffering. Figured the 5G is way faster in our house I’ll get this card to run on 5G. Well I just tested on the 2.4 channel and that came in at 70.8 mbps! So stoked that my internet in my office across the house will now be able to upload and download video files and stream music at the same time. I haven’t worried about Bluetooth connecting yet as I still just use wire led headphones and my wireless mouse and keyboard have their own Bluetooth dongle so I’m happy. Also this is hella simple to install. 5 min with me knowing nothing about what I was supposed to be doing other than a quick google search.

Fit right into my built pc no problem. It’s a couple year old build, pretty middle of the road pc but the connector is idiot proof as i found out, there was a couple of inputs on the motherboard right there and a quick trial and error found the right one. I downloaded the drivers from the link provided in the instructions and I’m really not great at pc stuff and I had to import the file from a win.rar importer thing, idk really, I’m sorry that’s not very helpful but it said there was a paid version of the importer, DON’T PAY FOR ANYTHING, you just need to click around and import the files and it worked just fine. I wish I could give a detailed breakdown of what I did not it’s been a few weeks and I’m just now writing this so suffice it to say, if I can figure this thing out you can too!Works great though and I’m glad I went this route rather than a lil USB stick. I feel like this is more legit if you want gaming or stable connection to wifi. I recommend it

The Wifi speed and reception is just as good as every other device in the house. I didn’t have to install any of the included drivers to get it to work either. Both Wifi and Bluetooth work flawlessly right out of the box somehow. I am very surprised it works this well. I expected it to only be okay for the price, but I couldn’t find a better alternative. The product page always looked a little suspicious, but the end product works perfectly. Highly recommended.

My son and I just finished our first custom computer build and it was a great learning experience for us. He is 12 and really pushed hard for this project. Anyhow, this component was probably the most surprising of the build. We are very rural and only get 30mbps download speeds tops from our internet service. That is enough for us stream movies and play xbox online…but our internet router and wifi transmitter is in the basement and this computer was going on the top floor. We talked through options throughout the build, just in case the wifi wasn’t strong enough to run from the top floor. To keep this brief, he can play some intense games games from the top floor without any interruptions. He is running 200fps on Fortnite and 100+ on Warzone.

Update June 30th, 2021I ordered and installed my second of this card in my Linux Server. Works flawlessly! Works with Linux 21.04 perfectly. It also works with Win10 and the new Win11 Preview Edition. You will not regret buying this card.** Update June 22nd, 2021 **This card works on Ubuntu Linux 21.04 with Linux Kernel 5.12.xx flawlessly. If you’re a Linux user and are looking for a stable, reliable Wifi card — this is it. I’ve been running with it for over a year now and have gone through several Ubuntu Linux version upgrades and numerous Linux Kernel updates all flawlessly. I’ve experienced zero issues with this Wifi card. If you’re a Linux user, rest assured this Wifi card works well. Now my original review of this card:I purchased this card after reading reviews that stated it works with Ubuntu Linux 20.04 as that is the desktop I run.Ubuntu 20.04 w/kernel 5.4.x picked up the card and installed it right away. Did not have to locate a driver online, compile and install manually. It just worked. Just for giggles, I popped in a separate SSD and performed an Ubuntu 20.04 install from scratch to see if the install would recognize it. It did. Saw the card, I selected it, put my WiFi password in and off the install went, downloading updates as well.If you’re looking for a blazing fast WiFi card for Ubuntu 20.04 – this is absolutely it. No muss, no fuss, it just works.I also have a Windows 10 boot disk in this computer so I booted Win10 to see if it’d pick up the card automatically – and it did. No surprise there. Conclusion: Solid WiFi card for Ubuntu Linux 20.04 and up to kernel 5.4.3 Same for Windows 10.I may buy another just to have a spare.Update June 3, 2020: I’m noticing some reviewers are reporting that the Bluetooth works for them but the WiFi does not. There’s a simple explanation for this: you’re installing the card in the wrong slot on your motherboard. The Bluetooth gets its power from a separate connection (USB) on the motherboard, thus the “bluetooth works, wifi doesn’t” reviews. Before returning the card as “defective” please make sure you install the card in the proper slot first. If in doubt, it should be the slot closest to the processor (on many motherboards.) Hopefully this helps those who purchase the card and don’t know the difference between the “short” and “long” slots on their motherboards.Update Nov. 6th, 2020:Had this card a few weeks shy of 6 months. So far, working flawlessly. I’ve updated my Linux Kernel to Ubuntu 5.8 and am having zero issues with this WiFi card. I’m purchasing another to go into a legacy AMD FX-8350 build so I can connect it wirelessly with Linux also.I’ve also updated my WiFi router to a TP-Link WiFi6 model and the wireless speeds I’m getting back to my router are blazing fast. Fully taking advantage of the 300mb Comcast internet connection I have. Very happy with this adapter.

Both 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi work great even with the router on the other side of the house through many walls. Bluetooth works fine without any issues. My only complaint is that the antennas are a bit long, but it’s not an issue at all. The card itself is pretty small which is nice because it sits close to my graphics card and I was worried it might block airflow. Hooked it up and it worked right away without having to use the install CD.
