Works with Dirt Rally 2.0 which is what I got it for. My hairpins have never been better and it is so satisfying utilizing this handbrake around a hairpin. I recommend playing the Germany track to get a feel for this handbrake. It feels like a solid design and plugged it in my PC and it worked no problem. The handbrake has started to squeak after some use. Also note that if it doesn’t say it comes with a clamp you are not getting a desk clamp. Make sure you get the one with the desk clamp. Adds like $10. I thought it came with a desk clamp by default. it does not. I have to use vise grips and a towel to clamp it to my desk haha.

The Fanatec handbrake I purchased with my CSW 2.5 wheel didn’t last too long, less than a month. After viewing youtube videos and thinking about it’s short-comings, I decided to try this inexpensive handbrake. The Fanatec just appears to be expensive junk, relatively. This brake has worked much better than I expected. It has a good feel; it connected right away on PC; works well with Dirt Rally 2.0.The only drawback has to do with my tabletop design: if I mount it in the ‘pull’ position, the handle is right next to my monitor, so I turned it around, the handle is in the right position, but I have to ‘push’ the handle now to brake. This seemed strange at first, but took just a few minutes to get used to, and works very well. I hope this review helps.

So far so good. Came with a table clamp. The handle orientation is adjustable, so you can use the base in a horizontal bolted fashion. There is some play in the handle and thats just from the bushing-pin that holds the handle to the actuator. It is a hall effect, which means the pull amount is progressive and detected on a sliding scale, which is ideal for drifting or rally. This IS a copy of amstudio (youtube channel) hand brake, which you can make yourself but this one is already done, comes with the table clamp and has Amazon return policy. Overall, you should be happy.NOTE – DO NOT PULL ON THE USB CABLE. There is an area you can zip tie it to on the body, make sure you do that, so the cable doesn’t get disconnected from the Arduino board.

Not a detailed review on the item itself but my way of recommending getting a USB handbrake in the first place.I’m using this with just one game: Dirt Rally 2.0 on PC. With a Vive VR headset and a G920 wheel + H-pattern shifter. It’s set up on my desk and I sit on a $15 IKEA folding chair. Meaning I don’t have a high-class “rig” to brag about.I’ve been getting pretty into Dirt Rally ever since they added Oculus VR support in June 2016. I used Revive to support my Vive with pretty consistent reliability. I tell everyone it’s some of the most exhilarating fun you can have with a video game. With VR not only was it really exciting but my stage times improved INSTANTLY and I became a far better driver. So, yeah, I was one of those “no VR, no buy” comment guys. But hey, we got our wish in the end!But for me there was still something missing in terms of control. The level of awkwardness that came with using the B-button on the wheel as the handbrake was a real pain. Having to anchor my thumb on a button while really needing to be free to manipulate the wheel was bad – and it just wasn’t fun.I got this USB hand brake (the simpler version with a clamp included). Set-up was uneventful, just plugged it into my Win10 and it detected. I mounted it to my desk to the right of my shifter. In Dirt Rally 2.0 I found and adjusted minimal configuration options and went to test it in the rally school free-roam stage. I was able to discover that it was an analog controller. Lighter pulls applied the rear brakes lightly. I could modulate the hand-braking force. It felt great in my hand.In Dirt Rally 2.0, in the Greece stages (DLC) my favorite stage is Fourteka Kourva. It’s a dry gravel course with at least 6 hairpins if my memory is correct, including one right at the beginning that despite having driven through it perhaps 300+ times since 2016 (lots of restarts helps) I’ve never really felt good at it in my 4WD Group-B Lancia Delta S4. With VR, my new handbrake and now forcing myself to use the full manual H-shifter and clutch pedal I had now entered basically a level of full control that I had been lacking up until this point.I entered that first hairpin… and immediately it felt different. I slammed the brakes, put in the clutch, cranked the wheel to the right and pulled the handbrake. I feathered the handbrake out of natural instinct and around swung the rear as I maintained revs with the throttle. The moment the nose was pointed in the right direction I let go of the handbrake and clutch at the same time and off like a rocket shot down the road. It felt completely natural. There was 5 more hairpins to navigate on this under-three-minute stage and every hairpin felt like it was faster than any previous attempts with just the B-button.I was so glad I bought a handbrake controller. I’ve only spent around 5 hours or so with it so far, but I’ve been totally content with it. It was a great investment and I only wish I had gotten it earlier.

For those of you who have considered but just haven’t caved yet…. Just Do it!Sat on it for about a month, said screw it, whats the worst that can happen? it doesnt work and send it back, right?took me about 15 min to get it setup onto my chassis. For my sim, I am using a GTRSimulator GTAF so i had to finangle the shifter to the right a bit to get it to fit properly. other than that painful scenario, all I did was plug it in to my PC (Windows 10) and it immediately recognized it. I assigned it to Assetto Corsa through content manager and was drifting an e30 properly!

If you are into racing simulations that include rally and drifting, then you know it’s important to use a good handbrake. And using a button to simulate a handbrake is a poor substitute for a hand brake. This handbrake cured all my handbrake issues immediately. I have a moveable wood bench next to my sim rig. I screwed a piece of 1×4 wood onto the bench, then screwed the handbrake onto the wood. This allows me to move the handbrake around so that I can position it where I want it. The materials are strong and high quality, and it looks amazing. Looks are a 5. I rate quality as a four. This is because it’s a little rattlely, and I have not been able to firm it up by tightening screws. Also, there is a small flip up lock that I can’t get to engage. I’m not sure I’d ever use the lock, so no big deal. These faults however, do not significantly affect its functionality. Using the brake in game is a game changer. The brake looks and functions like a real racing hand brake. The more you pull, the more braking you feel. It is a must have for drift and rally sims. The pull is not as firm as I would like, but I got use to that. It is great to use in game and will really help control drift or cornering in rally games. I have had very little trouble installing and configuring and is recognized by my current sim games. Overall, I would give it a 4, because the fault I found of the pull being a little “floppy”, does affect my confidence in using the brake. That said, it is truly a game changer, and you get use to the brake, therefore I give it a 5.

Plug and play.Well constructed.Smooth.Clamp works well.UPDATE: Still works well, needs lube occasionally as it can get squeaky. Only suggestion i have it to for the manufacturer to mount the circuit board upside down, if possible and have the wire come from the lower part of the bottom, (if handbrake is mounted horizontally), that way its easier to hide the cable. It can get a bit squeaky occasionally, but nothing terrible.Overall, its a great buy.

This handbrake is what I’ve been looking for. I was skeptical in the beginning due to some reviews but I took the risk. I never regretted a single moment once I binded it to Dirt Rally and starting powering through corners. This will not disappoint and I’ve never had a problem with it. The foam is a nice touch and the amount of pressure to activate is good enough to be immersed in your race. The finish of the metal is sturdy and you can simply tweak activation force by loosening some bolts. So get immersed and take a chance.

Ok I now give a 5 star review as the issue was not down to the product, it was simply an issue with steam not detecting it properly when Playstation controller support was enabled. Disabling this setting it now works perfectly. The quality of this thing is pretty nice as well. The front spring retainer is made of carbon fiber, the main structure is all cnc alluminum, and the board tray is 3D printed which I find pretty cool. I did do some slight modifying to it to tighten the handle up as it is a tad shaky out of the box, all in only cost about $5 worth of spacers and washers from ACE hardware lol. Great product would highly recommend.

This hamdbrake was a great addition to my sim setup. I was a little skeptical at first, but I was sick and tired of using a button for my handbrake on my steering wheel. I was losing so much time in the hairpins especially to some friends playing the same games . I saw some other options for handbrakes for twice the price and without any mounting hardware. I ordered the handbrake with the clamp. It is a solid, well built unit. My computer instantly recognized it. No fuzzy deadzone or false signals. This thing just works and has a great feel. Oh, and those rally stages I was behind my friends on the leaderboard; I surpassed their time by 2 seconds just because of this. It feels so natural to just drift through hairpins. DEFINITELY recommend
